With the development of the national economy and the gradual expansion of the passenger car market,cars have become the main means of transportation for people to travel,and people's concerns have gradually improved from the original traffic safety to driving comfort.As the core part of the automobile steering system,the reliability and comfort of the mechanical steering gear have been raised higher and higher.All transmission parts of pinion and rack-type mechanical steering gear are mostly rigid contact.When the design structure is not reasonable or the manufacturing precision is not high,abnormal sound is easy to occur.Noise is also one of the multiple fault forms in the steering gear.Failure of key components may occur when the materials are selected improperly and the processing is not good.Among them,gear or rack breakage is one of the most dangerous failure forms of mechanical steering.The failure of these aspects seriously affect the driving safety and comfort,thus research vision the reasons and find solutions and improve the steer ing performance has always been a major steering gear manufacturers,one of the main research issues is more.But because the components assembly relation is complex,it has made the investigation and analysis of sound certain difficulty.In this paper,we take a domestic passenger car mechanical steering gear as an example,based on the current domestic in recent years after sound data,react to the problem,respectively from the aspects of design,processing and assembling,testing respectively analyze possible causes of sound,and combining with the real vehicle loading situation of survey,find out the sound placing signage at and effective solution for various reasons.This paper makes a new development model in domestic mechanical steering gear as an example,for trial production in the process of gear and rack fracture failure case,from the material,the microstructure,morphology,hardness,and resolution of CAE analysis of causes of fracture,and put forward effective for the analysis of the cause of the change measures,improve the quality of the products.This paper also introduces two new techniques,carburizing technology and shot peening treatment.The principle and characteristics of these two techniques are also introduced in this paper.In order to compare and analyze the carburizing process,shot peening treatment and high-frequency induction heat treatment,In this paper,carburizing process and shot peening treatment are carried out for the Pinion of a particular product.Under the same test conditions,the performance and wear of the three methods are compared and analyzed,and according to these test to find other ways to improve work strength and wear resistance.Based on actual production problems,this paper studies and analyzes the causes of abnormal sound and fracture,and make the feasible solutions of subsequent problems.
