| As an important part of Chinese traditional culture and art,Zen Buddhism developed quickly in this period.Because of the large growth in total number of Buddhists in our country and the prosperity of related religious tourism activities,a nationwide boom for protecting,repairing and rebuilding Buddhist monasteries appeared.Zen Buddhism has existed in our country for thousands of years.There are many temples with many remains still existing at present.However,nowadays,many traditional temples are seriously damaged.During our field researches,we found that temples were restored and reconstructed in a rough way because of people’s misreading and misunderstanding of history and traditions,the excessive pursuit of luxurious and grand decoration,the lack of special features and characteristics,the monotonous space landscape became popular in domestic construction of temples.These phenomena will eventually lead to the loss of traditional architectural features and construction methods.This paper focuses on the inheritance and remolding of Zen Buddhism in mountainous temple environment and uses the example of Fawang Temple,Hejiang County,Luzhou City.First,this paper researches historical development contexts of Zen Buddhism and combines changes of temple type systems and their basic features during all historical periods to know the research object.The key and difficult points of this paper lie in ways to provide basic paradigms and solid theoretical foundations for the restoration and reconstruction of Zen temples by using basic characteristics of Zen Buddhism art under traditional Chinese culture and art background.This paper summarizes characteristics of several typical Zen Buddhist temples,puts forward several construction methods,explores art forms suitable for Zen temples and uses them to actual design examples of Fawang Temple.Finally,an intact logical clue was formed in this paper.Chapter 1 is the introduction.It mainly describes the research background,purpose and significance of the research,research contents,research methods and other problems.Chapter 2 is the basic research.Firstly,this chapter describes the introduction and localization of Zen Buddhism art and researches changes of Zen temple forms over all historical periods and their basic features.Second,this chapter interprets some basic forms of Chinese Zen Buddhism art and analyzes Buddhist spirit and traditional culture affecting Zen temple landscapes.Then,this paper analyzes and studies thoughts and ideas affecting mountainous temple type systems of Zen Buddhism and further recognizes the guiding significance of Zen Buddhism art to the restoration of temples,which lays a good foundation for the next researches.Chapter 3 mainly includes design practice analysis and thoughts.In this chapter,the patterns of several Zen temples and their landscape characteristics are analyzed,Buddhist art form suitable for Zen temples are explored and design methods for rebuilding temples are found.Chapter 4 is the systematic study of this paper.Its takes Fawang Temple in Luzhou City,Sichuan Province as an example to analyze and convey design techniques of Zen temples from several aspects,including the nature,functional relationship,Zen design and so on.This paper holds that we shall respect history and culture from the perspective of designers and shall restore and reconstruct Zen temples.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of this paper and it summarizes theories and research results.The research of this paper will provide some reference value for the inheritance and reconstruction of Zen temples. |
