Walking Space Design Strategies Based On Pedestrian Simulation

With the increasing demand for the quality of walking space,people also put forward higher requirements on the design of walking space.That promotes the design of walking space toward the refinement.At present,the control and guidance of the design elements of walking space are mainly based on the designer's interpretation and understanding of the needs of pedestrians.The less sophisticated and quantifiable techniques used in the design of walking space.At the same time,walking simulation tools,as a digital tool in the field of transportation,are increasingly mature.Those tools also provide a lot of basis for design in the field of transportation.through the relation between of pedestrian simulation and walking space design elements,author understands the applicability of pedestrian simulation in walking space design,and establishes the application process of pedestrian simulation in walking space design.That also gets applied in the project of Nanqiaosi in Chongqing Application to verify the feasibility of the application process.This study first classifies the relationship between pedestrian activity requirements and walking space service level,and determines the type of pedestrian demand.With combing the relevant contents of pedestrian simulation,author determines the feasibility and value of the pedestrian simulation application.That means to control the design elements through dynamic feedback and guide the design elements through pedestrian activity feature recognition.Based on the applicability of pedestrian simulation in walking space,a pedestrian simulation process for walking space is established.First,author understands process of pedestrian simulation applied to the design of walking space,and make preparation of research and data.To do research on the design goals of walking space and the related simulation scenarios,that would conducted to determine the three types of simulation scenarios of the related situations of necessity activities,the relevant situations of spontaneous activities and the related situations of vulnerable groups.To organize the design elements of walking space,and form two major categories of design elements of the system design elements and environmental system design elements.With the association of pedestrian simulation,author clears control and guidance methods of various elements to form the application process.The pedestrian simulation is applied to the design of walking space in Nanqiaosi.The simulation results of each simulation situation are obtained and analyzed.The design of walking space in Chongqing Nanqiaosi Area is formed through the evaluation of simulation results and the recognition of pedestrian feature points.Through the application of pedestrian simulation in Nanqiaosi Area and the design strategy,the feasibility and value of pedestrian simulation in walking space system are verified.The quantitative method based on microscopic view is provided for the demand of walking space design refinement.This pedestrian design also provides a new way of thinking and technical reference for other walking space design.
