Research On Settlement System And Market Pattern Of Daye County During The Republic Of China

This article is to undertake the related research of our team on the traditional settlements and trading systems in the Jinzhong district during the Qing Dynasty and Republic of China.And we make the Daye County trading activities and settlement systems as the research objects.China has a vast land area,it exits a huge difference in the field such as cultural customs,settlement organization methods and traditional market construction logic,etc.This article is based on those perspective,focusing on the Daye's development form and layout of the trading activities,the composition of settlement systems and the association between them.Firstly,the article sorts out the physical and geographical conditions and social development conditions of Daye County,including the location,topography,soil,climate,water system,mineral,and population.The economic development and traffic conditions are described in detail.The mode of social production and transportation have played a key role in the development of the settlement's organizational system.All of these are based on people's adaptation to the local geographical,climatic and resources.Grasping this background information will provide basic support for exploring the market pattern and settlement system of Daye County.Secondly,discuss the settlement system and distribution characteristics of Daye County,and interpret the settlement levels ystem,settlement scale system and settlement layout characteristics by three levels of county,township and village.Then explain the influence of each on the distribution of the settlement from the perspective of geographical environment,economic development and living customs.Then,the pattern of markets in Daye County was systematically explored.A detailed description of the 17 markets in Daye County during the period of the Republic of China was carried out,and they were hierarchically classified according to the size of markets and their functional complexities.It was found that the formation and development of markets were based on certain geographical,social,and economic conditions,and The author summarizes the development characteristics of Daye markets from the three aspects of traffic conditions,the development of modern industry,and the influence of religious activities on trading activities.Finally,the relationship between settlement system and markets was discussed.Based on the understanding of the relationship between settlements and development of markets in Daye County,we make the characteristics of “Diversity,market transactions” in Daye County and the characteristics of “collecting settlements and temple transactions” in Pingyao County conducted a multi-dimensional comparative analysis of settlement systems and transaction activities,further deepening the understanding of the pattern of the markets and the construction of the settlement system in Daye County.
