Traditional method by use mold have long trial period,high mold manufacturing costs,poor flexibility and other shortcomings in the new automotive engine casting products trial development stage.recent years,with 3D printing and other moldless manufacturing technology development rapidly,many 3D printing techniques and digital moldless CNC machining technology can manufacture directly sand mold,wax mold and so on without using mold,and the process more and more mature.Manufacturing sand mold or wax mold by using 3D printing or digital moldless CNC machining,a lot of mold design and manufacture time is saved,the new casting product trial development period is shortened greatly,and a lot of mold costs is saved.This technology has a broad application prospect in new casting product trial development process.The purpose of this paper is to study the application of digital moldless CNC machining technology and 3D printing technology in the development of automobile casting.For the automotive engine parts rapid trial development needs in our company,consider our company's products and process equipment,study the casting process of rapid sand mold manufacture and casting process of rapid investment,applicated in the rapid trial development of automotive engine blockk,cylinder head which have complex structures,and chain chamber cover,oil pan and other thin walled shell castings.In this paper,we studied the laser selective sintered coated sand,analysed the influence of laser power,preheating temperature and scanning speed on the initial strength of the sinter sand mold,obtained the optimal process that laser selective sintered coated sand.Studied the laser selective sintering PS powder process,analysed the influence of laser power and scanning speed on the depth of the sintering,combined with the results of the analysis,analysed the influence of different process parameters combination on dimensional accuracy of the PS samples,obtained the optimal process.We tested,comparied and analysised the performance etc on the laser selective sintered coated sand mold,digital moldless CNC machining sand mold and 3D inkjet print sand mold,sums up the advantages and disadvantages of the three kinds of technology.Design and analyze casting process of automotive engine aluminum cylinder head,iron cylinder block,aluminum chain chamber cover,and finish the pouring of three kinds of casting with rapid sand casting and rapid investment casting,and obtained qualified casting.
