Under the tide of intellectualization,intelligent automobile comes into being.Yet designs of intelligent cars released by many car companies do not conform to the requirement of times.Such "old bottle of new wine",i.e.,grafting the new technology onto the existing or updated models,fail in the meeting of user's expectations.In order to design the intelligent automobile which conforms to the user cognition,understand users' image cognition to the intellectualized styling,and the ability of applying such understand in the automobile styling design,are the key.It is also the most concerned problem for automobile enterprises during the transformation of automobile industry.The research on the relationship between automobile styling and user cognition is one of the most important directions in the research of automobile styling.Intelligent technology raises new issues for the recognition of automobile styling.In this paper,the mainstream cognitive theory of automotive styling research methods are reviewed.Based on the dual coding processing theory in automotive styling image recognition,this study conduct a user-cognition-based intelligent vehicle research,aiming to obtain intelligent car styling features.The whole research,from the perspectives of two coding elements' morphological cognition and semantic cognition,can be divided into the following four stages: Representative styling sample acquisition,styling feature deconstruction and quantification,styling adjective acquisition and styling image evaluation,styling feature acquisition.In the sample acquisition stage,the questionnaire was used to select the samples to ensure the objectivity of the samples.In the styling feature deconstruction and quantification stage,the parts of deconstruction are targeted by analyzing the data acquired through eye tracking experiment and interview,and the representative samples are deconstructed and the sample styling characteristics are quantified.Styling adjective acquisition and styling imagery evaluation stage relies on questionnaire to obtain styling adjectives Through the similarity detection and expert user interviews,the styling adjectives are established,so that the intelligent vehicle styling image evaluation can be completed with the help of semantic differential method;In the styling feature acquisition stage a mathematical model is built based on the Hayashi's quantification methods.Through analyzing the relationship among the data acquired in the styling image evaluation stage and styling feature quantification stage,the styling features of automobile which conform to user's cognition can be achieved.In order to verify the research results,this study,by setting the styling adjectives gain in the research as the original point,looks for the image mapping divergently.Combined with the study of intelligent car styling characteristics,this study also makes practice in the design of intelligent automobile.
