In the 21 st century,the influence of the Internet,digitalization and intelligentization on vehicles cannot be ignored.A growing number of cars are released in the Consumer Electronics Show(CES).The boundaries of cars and electronics are blurring.As advanced electronics and computers increasingly integrated into cars,the in-car interaction becomes complex than ever.The speed of software iteration has not been matched by automotive manufacturers due to long cycles of engineering and manufacture.Although designers build highly functional and emotional hardware,automotive manufacturers often ignore the important interactions and opportunities between car hardware and Human Machine Interaction(HMI).The use of on-board devices completely changes cognitive models and muscle memory.The relationship between human and cars is becoming worse and more complex,so interaction design is gradually important in improving the relationship between human and cars,which also effects and changes the styling of cars to a large extent.An increasingly number of technologies and products try to solve these problems.Nonetheless,the user experience of on-board system,even which is developed by the most luxury brand,is not satisfactory.The car hardware and HMI do not match with each other.This paper is focused on conducting a user-centered multi-dimensional car body design.The main purpose is achieving a perfect combination of hardware styling and software HMI from the perspective of user needs and based on the latest research and application of intelligent technology.I am committed to providing design theory and design case support for manufacturers and designers of intelligent car.The paper also explores the change of car styling method due to the integration of computers.This paper is based on the research of design trends and the development of intelligent technology.Firstly,we need to clarify the definition of the design objects----highly automated intelligent car.Next,various methods of user study are determined to carry out,including brainstorming,focus group,interview,questionnaire,observation.And then analyze user demands and characteristics,sort the information and design the presentation of it.Then,propose the goal and principle of HMI inintelligent car design using the method of interdisciplinary approach.Finally,a complete design practice of intelligent car is carried out combining with advanced interaction techniques.Highly automated intelligent car innovative design is carried out and the different design method and progress are explored.A list of the user requirements is established by in-depth user research,case study and comparative study,which provide a basis for the infrastructural solution of integrated information system.The study of interaction design and styling are quite proactive and forward-looking.The contribution of basic research and design practice of HMI and styling in this paper provides references to the design of future intelligent vehicle.
