Mediation Analysis Of Business Model Between Service Innovation Capability And Enterprise Perormance Of Chinese Construction Enterprises

With the cross-convergence of the construction industry,the information industry and the service industry,the business boundaries of construction enterprises have gradually expanded.The service attributes of contruction industry have become more obvious.Thus,the enhancement of service innovation capabilities is increasingly playing an important role in obtaining substainable development for the productive service industry.However,the market value of service innovation capability is not inherent and depends on the transformation of internal business models.Then,how does the service innovation capability of construction enterprises enhance enterprise performance through business models?Based on service innovation theory and business model theories,this study focuses on Chinese construction industry,which is an important part of productive service industry,exploring the influence mechanism of service innovation capability of construction enterprises on enterprise performance and analysing the mediration role of business model.The research adopts an instrument containing service innovation capability scale,business model scale and enterprise performance scale to analyze the relationships among them by SEM(Structure Equation Model).The maximum likelihood estimation and Bootstrap estimation were conducted to test the hypothesized relationships with Amos Software.This research used a sample of 374 responses from the recent three years of top 200 Chinese construction enterprises in competitiveness and growth.Data collection covers Henan province,Shanxi province,Zhejiang province,Beijing,Guangzhou,Harbin and Shenyang.The empirical research finds that:(1)The service innovation capability of construction enterprises has a positive effect on enterprise performance.The enterprise culture,customer focus,process,and organizational learning all positively influence enterprise performance.The resource input has no significant effect on enterprise performance;(2)Business model positively mediates service innovation capability-enterprise performance linkage in construction enterprise.The business model partially mediates enterprise culture-enterprise performance linkage,customer-enterprise performance linkage and organizational learning-enterprise performance linkage.Additionally,business model fully mediates process-enterprise performance linkage.This rsearch has some theoretical and some practical implications for Chinese construction industry companies.It includes(1)This research takes Chinese construction industry to reveal the influence mechanism of service innovation capability on enterprise performance through the business model.(2)This research strengthens the adaptation of service innovation and service innovation capability theory in the context of Chinese construction industry.(3)Construction companies should focus on strengthening service innovation capabilities,and balance the various dimensions of service innovation capability.(4)Construction companies should pay much attention on the role of business models in service innovation capabilities and enterprise performance.
