On The Protection And Renovation Design Of Fuzhongli Historic District In Hankou

The historic district is the legacy of the times that has experienced historical changes in a city.It witnesses and records the history of the city and its development,making itself an indissoluble and important part of the historical culture.The Fuzhongli Historical District in Hankou has undergone changes in the city,and become an inseparable part of Hankou culture.However,the rapid development of urbanization and the neighborhood upgrading in Wuhan have led to a series of problems,such as the declining of the district and the worrying living environment in the neighborhood.The thesis proposes a protection model and transformation method that suits the historical district through the research on the protection methods and practices of the current domestic and foreign historic districts,combined with the discussion on advantages and disadvantages of the Fuzhongli Historic District.Based on the research and interviews,the author analyzes the demographic composition of residents living in the District and the actual needs of living in all age groups,and summarizes the existing problems in this historic neighborhood.According to the finding,the author puts forward an overall renovation plan to improve the living environment from different aspects with renovation on Fuzhongli commercial streets,historical street entrances,gardens and interior small streets as the key design objects.With due regard to the actual needs of the elderly in the historic district,Fuzhongli 9,a well-protected building,was used as an example for the renovation.While protecting and repairing historic buildings,the renovation can also meet the basic needs of the elderly.The design of this project will not only ensure the living quality of the residents in the Fuzhongli Historic District,but also attract more people to pay attention to the historical streets of Hankou,and will be eager to reside here.The conduct can protect the historic street features and architectural patterns,and preserve the intimate neighborhood and social networks in the historic district,which will give new vitality to the old streets in the city.
