| Historic district conservation and renewal is one of the important part of the conservation of the cultural heritage of mankind, which was paid more attention in the process of accelerated urbanization and economic transition, and has important significant and practical value.Xi'an Forest of Steles historic district is one of the remaining traditional residential areas in Ming city. Under the control of the relevant policies, the Forest of Steles historic district maintain a better size of traditional district, and the board of the traditional courtyard Boundary Street remain unchanged, most of which inhabited by the original residents, so the social fabric maintain the relative integrity. However, in recent years, the traditional courtyard destroyed with the large increases of addition and extension in the historic district. The survival of historic district is facing serious challenges.This paper based on the related theories and research, which infer a few classic model of the conservation and renewal of the historic district, though analyzing the experience and measures of aboard. Then the paper summarizes the main principles and mains of the conservation and renewal in the resident historic district, as the theoretical base.Through long-term sustained research, in deep understanding of the regional characteristics, status and the living conditions of local residents of the Forest of Steles historical district, the paper summed up the features of the main streets courtyard, and the internal factors of the change of the courtyard, as the realistic base.The paper, in the basis of the Forest of Steles historic district conservation policy and implementation status, summarized the forms of the traditional courtyard, whichmaintain the living function or transform the living function. From the municipal facilities, maintaining streets and alleys style, the conservation and renewal of the traditional courtyard, multi-channel financing, clearing property distribution, optimizing the population structure, and strengthening the public participation, a number of recommendations are proposed in the conservation and renewal of the Forest of Steles historic district. |
