The development of road traffic in Qinghai experienced for a rather long time,of which the earliest one can be dated back to the Zhou Dynasty whose king was having a west tour period in the national scope at the moment.Having gone through the development of several dynasties from Qin,Han,Sui and Tang,Qing to the start of Republic of China,the road traffic pattern was formed eastward,northeastward,northwestward,southwestward with Xining being the center.In the east,it connects Gansu Qinghai Channel,passing by Ledu,Pingan and Lanzhou;In the southeast,it is connected with corrider in Linxia belonging to the important town in the southeast of Gansu Province,passing by Xunhua.In the northeast,it is combined with Ningzhang(from Xining to Zhangye)channel in Xinjiang,passing by Datong,Menyuan and Zhangye;In the southwest,it is linked with Qingzang corridor in Tibet,passing by Daheba,Daotanghe,Yushu and other places;In the northwest,along the ancient Qiang people migration route,it is concatenated Qingxin channel of Xinjiang Ruoqiang area,passing by Huangyuan,the Qaidam Basin,Mangya at the border area of Qinghai and Xinjiang Province.In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,with the emergence of modern highways in China,the local governments in Qinghai began to improve the road traffic conditions in this area.By the year of 1928 to be Qinghai Province,there was no complete modern road in the region before the completed system of Qinghai Province,and the transportation linked within the province was dominated by traditional post road traffic.After the completed system of Qinghai Province,in the eastern part of Qinghai,the Qinghai local government built a simple highway connected with the important cities and towns inside and outside the province,such asLanzhou to Xining,mutual assistance to Datong and Ningbo(from Xining to Xunhua),regarding itself as the main part.After the outbreak of the national anti-Japanese war in 1937,the national government built the national government in accordance with the needs of the national defense strategy.Based on the key point of the rear area of the war of resistance against Japan,the Qinghai local government continued to build the road traffic in the province with the support of the national government's financial and material resources.In this period,the Qinghai provincial government carried out the project of changing line of Gansu Qinghai highway,promoting the construction grade of Gansu Qinghai highway and implementing the project of changing line of Gansu Qinghai highway,which improved the traffic situation of Qinghai road,the most important channel of foreign traffic.According to the changes of international and domestic environment in the later period of the AntiJapanese War,in combination with the strategic security needs of national defense,the people's government built an important strategic channel for the mainland to Tibet in Qinghai,the Xiyu section of the Qinghai Tibet highway(Xining to Yushu),and simply built the Qinghai section of the Kang Qing highway.After the victory of the war of resistance,the national government of the national defense built the West in Qinghai.Ning Huangyuan,to mangnai area connecting Xinjiang Ruoqiang green new highway.During the period of the Republic of China,Qinghai's roads were mostly aimed to be in line with the national defense strategy.The construction of most highways is to realize the national strategic intent and protect the safety of people and border in the motherland.With the construction of modern highway in Qinghai area,the birth of other new industries and the rapid development of modern commodity logistics industry in this area have promoted the process of modernization in Qinghai area.
