Building information modeling(BIM)is a kind of revolutionary informational technology which is developed in the building field.Most of domestic and foreign construction companies generally believe that the application of BIM will increase the production efficiency and avoid the waste of resources significantly in construction projects.As an important information technology which will greatly enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of Chinese construction industry,BIM has stagnated in the current development environment of China's construction industry for a period of time,and the development progress has been slow.It has not been able to produce the expected results,leting alone providing comprehensive and in-depth support for the development of the Chinese construction industry.In order to ensure the firm and rapid development of Chinese construction industry in the future,it is necessary to improve the current situation of BIM application.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the current development status of BIM.Then according to the analysis results of its current development status,we can select a scientific and reliable development strategy to solve the problem of slow development progress of BIM,and provide guarantee for the development of Chinese construction industry in the future.Based on a large number of domestic and foreign literatures research,this study adopts the SWOT analysis method to classify and summarize the influence factors of BIM,then obtains a strategic index system about the development of BIM applications for Chinese construction industry.Then we have an investigate which is focused on the Chinese construction industry.The questionnaire concludes the advantages,weaknesses,opportunities,and threatens of BIM technology application in all areas of Chinese construction industry in order to get the evaluation of BIM technology from construction industry in various aspects.After the survey questionnaires were collected,we evaluated values of each options.The purpose of this step is to measure the relative importance of the strategic factors in terms of strengths,weaknesses.opportunities,and threaterns.And then all strategic factors are analyzed by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process to obtain a judgment matrix for various factors.And based on the final judgment matrix,we get the total relative importance value of various factors.After getting the final ranking,we select the key strategic factors of the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and threatens of BIM applications.Finally,On the basis of identifing key factors,by considering of the current development status of BIM application of Chinese construction industry,the strategic analysis matrix quadrilateral in the SWOT analysis method is builded up by combining the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and challenges of BIM application.By determining its center of gravity,we can determine the development strategy which is suitable for BIM application development in Chinese construction industry according to the discriminant rule.After getting suitable development strategy,the BIM application development strategies of exploiting strengths,improving weaknesses,seizing opportunities,and avoiding threatens are refined in the last chapter.The countermeasures for the development of BIM applications are came up from the government,construction enterprises,and individuals aspects.Since the application of AHP-SWOT analysis method in BIM application research is relatively scarce,the investigation and research on BIM development strategy factors can provide reference and support for further studies of BIM application development in Chinese construction industry.
