Bridge is the strategic passage between roads. Its safety directly affects traffic function and human life. Local war, terrorism attack and accidents are likely to induce blast disasters on Bridges in recent years. Due to blast loading’s uncertainty, complexity and neglect of risks about explosion, the current research on bridges’ blast prevention is neither thorough nor extensive. It doesn’t even draw much attention. The vulnerability of bridges exposed to blast hazards is also highlighted in such situation. Therefore, it is necessary to realize the current situation, learn the present achievements and existing problems definitely. On this basis, we discuss relevant countermeasures and have an insight into the further development of bridges’ blast prevention.On the overview of studies home and abroad, we mainly focus on four aspects (including antiknock performance analysis, damage assessment and reinforcement, risk evaluation and management, the conceptual design) to conduct status analysis and countermeasure research.(1) According to the theories of explosion mechanics, basic concepts and research profile of four main destructive loadings (shock wave, explosive fragment, blasting seism, post-explosion fire) are stated. The characteristics of blast disasters on bridges are summarized simultaneously.(2) The current situation about antiknock performance analysis is generalized from four aspects which include the object of study, analytical method, the damage mechanism and failure mode, factors of antiknock performance. Aiming at remaining various problems in each aspect, recommendations for further research are raised.(3) Confronted with studies on damage assessment and reinforcement, the status of damage evaluation on each destructive loading and combined effects is mainly elaborated, together with antiknock materials and rush-repair techniques. With analyzing existing issues, the corresponding countermeasures are proposed.(4) With respective reference to blast risk assessment methods in other fields and risk control measures in other nations, the present situation and development countermeasures of the bridge’s blast risk assessment and control are discussed.(5) Combined with the buildings’ antiknock conceptual design and features of the bridge structure itself, goals, concepts and construction measures in conceptual design of antiknock bridges are presented. The problems and corresponding countermeasures in this scope are preliminary discussed.
