Research On The Readers’ Space Design Of Large-scale Public Library

With the development of the economy and the coming of information age,china put forward the goal of cultural power.Most provincial public libraries and public libraries in large and medium sized cities in China are in the newly In the newly built or expanded,most of the construction scale of the provincial public libraries are 100 thousand square meters in the total area.There are six provincial libraries with the scale over 100 thousand square meters,among them,two provincial libraries and one deputy provincial library monomer area of more than 100 thousand square meters.The scale of many new library of large and medium-sized cities is far more than the standard of Public Library Construction in the definition of large libraries.This marks a new stage in the development of Public Libraries in our country.This thesis is divided into three parts,The first part is the first and the two chapter.First of all,this paper expounds the social and historical background and the significance of the selected topic.Secondly,it summarizes the research of the relevant fields at home and abroad.Thirdly,it introduces the historical evolution of the development of the public library and the change of the social function.Finally,it describes the characteristic of large public libraries and revealing the problems in the practice of the construction of large public libraries.The second part is the third and the four chapter,which is the key point of the thesis.First,from the perspective of the environment psychology,it analyzes the readers’ needs of cognition,behavior and consciousness and dividing them into different groups.Secondly,analyzing the readers’ spatial needs.And then putting forward the new idea and principle of large public library space design,discussing the main points of organization of the space from the view of way-finding design,and from the space division,the space shape,the space color,the space material as well as the furniture choice and so on,we analyze how to design the theme reading room.Finally,we discuss the key points for the design of public activities and auxiliary space.The third part is the conclusion,it proposes the key points of the design of public libraries,readers is the most important part,so it is very import for architectures to understand the characteristics of the cognition and behavior of the readers of all levels.Only in this way,can public libraries fulfill its social functions.
