Research Of The Modes To Reshape Urban Villages In Changsha Under The Context Of Urban-rural Integration

Urban village is a special phenomenon occurring in the process of promoting rapid urbanization in our country.Since the reform and opening up,along with the rapid growth and continuous enlargement of domestic cities,the villages that were originally located at the urban-rural continuum have gradually become besieged and semi-besieged by urban built-up areas,though they are significantly distinct from urban communities in terms of architectural landscape,population composition,lifestyle and management system,etc.,falling as the "lonely island" in city.The work of this paper falls into five chapters,with the main ideas as follow:Chapter One is an introduction to the full text,where a pertinent introduction is made with respect to the phenomenon and issue of urban village as well as the inevitability to reconstruct it.Based on a systematic summary and retrospection of relevant theories and practices abroad and the domestic status quo of research into urban village,it expounds the theoretical and practical significances of research into modes to reshape urban village with an architectural perspective as the entry point.Chapter Two provides relevant theories and policies on urban village transformation.This paper expounds the theoretical basis on which urban village is reshaped in four aspects as the optimizing configuration of urban land utilization,separative and mixed habitations in urban space,non-regular economy and non-regular employment and overall development of urban-rural space,and introduces relevant domestic extant policies of urban village transformation.Chapter Three falls into two sections:the general condition of the villages in Changsha,and investigation into the status quo.The first section first elaborates the general conditions of Changsha and of its urban village,discussing regional variances of Changsha’s urban village in overall distribution and the influential factors for it,and then analyzes the development and evolutionary process of and the formative reasons for Changsha’s urban village.The second section first expounds relatively elaborately the circumstance of the status-quo investigation into Changsha’s current urban village,while dividing the regions where the 94 urban villages involved with the investigation are located into five categories in accordance to the differences between the relations between the urban villages and the urban built-up areas,and then makes a longitudinal analysis on the urban villages under these five different regional conditions in terms of social form,spatial form,economic characteristic and land utilization,etc.Finally five corresponding representative instances are selected for a latitudinal comparison.Chapter Four makes a classified analysis on Changsha’s urban villages.First it analyzes the significance the classification of urban villages attaches to the research on transformation,and expounds the absence of classification of Changsha’s current urban village,and then induces five major categories of urban village in correspondence to the five different regional conditions where Changsha’s urban village are situated,as induced in Chapter Three.And these five major categories of urban village are further subdivided into eight subcategories in accordance to the planning for and modulation over the city,the strength or weakness of the collective economic power of the villages,and the consequence of the city’s recent key open construction areas.Finally,a relatively detailed analysis is made on the major issues to solve in reshaping these eight subcategories of urban village.Chapter Five is a research into the modes to reshape Changsha’s urban villages.After making a systematic analysis on the domestic extant reshaping modes and foremost difficulties confronted Changsha’s current urban villages reshaping,it makes an in-depth explorative discussion on the emphases of reshaping the five major categories and eight subcategories of urban villages under the classified analysis in Chapter Four,giving corresponding reshaping strategy respectively.
