The EPC contract mode for power plant is very popular in the international market,it is strategic direction for the china EPC contractor,but the management level for EPC contractor is only suitable for the Down-Market,The level is much behind the international developed project management and concept.The Engineering management leads the EPC project,which is the key factor to ensure EPC project management.High efficiency and effective engineering management can support the EPC project smooth execution,also it can provide the support to the procurement.The product of the engineering and procurements will be the input for the construction,effective coordination between engineering,procurement and construction can support the EPC project execution on plan and ensure completing the project on schedule.Because the engineering is leading the EPC project,the high quality of the deliverables and advanced engineering managements can accelerate the schedule and support the project completion on schedule successfully.High level engineering management can lower the project risk,save the cost,and accelerate the schedule,otherwise the project will be delayed and lose profits.In this Dissertation,the systematical analysis and combination of theory and practice is used,the engineering change control,cost control,schedule control,document control and Real-time collaboration design have been studied systematical,and the suggestion to improve the engineering management for power plant project have been recommended.The below recommendations was made though the study of this dissertation.(1)Engineering management play very important role in the EPC project,the overall cost for EPC project can be saved largely by sufficiently engineering management,and it is the key factor to ensure the project schedule.The project management team should realize that the importance of the engineering management in the EPC project execution.(2)There is much difference for engineering management between the China EPC contractor and international EPC contractor,China EPC contractor should improve the engineering management level along with domestic management experience and to be suitable to the international EPC project market.(3)China domestic engineering and designing sub-Contractor should improve the real-time design capability to improve design efficiency and quality to satisfy the international standard requirement.That can support China EPC contractor to get more international project.More project experience will improve the position in the international market to make more profit.Therefore,as the domestic power plant market shrinks,international market will be the only way for China EPC company development,lots of the factor of the engineering management should be developed to suit the international management practice,the high efficacy and quality management can be transferred to high profit,the recommendation of this dissertation can support China EPC contractor to become strong and share more international market.
