Analysis And Practice Of Women’s Dress Design Methods From The Perspective Of Design Geometry

Women’s dresses play an important role in women’s wear.The proportion of the shape is one of the important factors that determine whether a woman’s dress can give people a visual enjoyment.Design geometry is the study of proportions.It is an interdisciplinary subject between classical geometry and design.It is used to reveal the relationship between design and beauty.Therefore,from the perspective of design geometry,this subject studies the rule of proportionality in women’s dresses through statistics,collation,and comparison of data and reveals the humanistic connotation behind the social environment and guides design practices.Women’s dresses,as the outer packaging of the female body,have an inherent relationship with the human body.Based on this,according to the relationship between dresses and body beauty,the 137 classic women’s dresses from the 1920 s to the 1990 s were divided into three parts: women’s dresses that hide the beauty of the body,women’s dresses that show the beauty of the body,and women’s dresses that exaggerate the beauty of the body.First of all,The paper analyzes the classic women’s dresses from the perspective of vision and summarize the visual proportionality rules behind the aesthetic characteristics of the shape;then verifies the classic proportionality rules with four fashion week design examples from 2019 to 2020;finally,The paper explores the design method and practice of women’s dresses in the perspective of design geometry.The research shows that: the overall visual proportion of 3: 1 and visual proportion of clothing length segmentation of 2: 1 are instructive in women’s dresses with hidden body beauty.The visual proportion of the body changes a lot but has the characteristics of the times.The new overall visual proportion of 5: 4 and 1: 1 in the past two years shows the trend of volume-based design.The overall visual proportion of √7: 1 and visual proportion of clothing length segmentation of √2: 1,3: 2,4: 3 have been continued in women’s dresses that highlight the beauty of the human body.But in the past two years,there have been overall visual ratios of 5: 1 and√2: 1 beyond the usual range.It can be seen that the shape of the women’s dresses that highlight the beauty of the human body tends to develop in a polarized manner.The classic visual proportions of women’s dresses with exaggerated body beauty have been continued.But in the past two years,new overall visual proportions of 1: 1 and 2:√3 have appeared and the new visual proportion of clothing length segmentation of 2: 1 is common in mini skirts.The lower skirt or upper body also appeared to subvert the classic exaggerated visual proportions.It can be seen that in the past two years,the volume,lively,dramatic style is popular.The results showed that:(1)The beauty of women’s dresses follows a certain internal visual proportionality rule and the proportional relationship has the characteristics of the times.(2)It is propitious to understand the trend of ladies’ dress styling from the perspective of design geometry.(3)From the perspective of design geometry,it is helpful to analyze the meaning of proportion for the design of women’s dresses,and also provides a theoretical reference for designers to design dresses in advance.
