The excessive emission of greenhouse gases represented by CO2 not only restricts the growth of the regional economy,but also limits the long-term survival and development of mankind.At present,along with the rapid economic development,the total carbon emissions in various regions of China have increased,and the problems of low carbon emission efficiency in the region have become increasingly prominent,affecting the realization of China's overall emission reduction targets.Achieving the overall emission reduction target is inseparable from the improvement of carbon emission efficiency in various regions.Therefore,scientific assessment of regional carbon emission efficiency and analysis of its changing trend are a basic work to achieve emission reduction targets.As a region where China's natural resources are relatively concentrated,the problem of carbon emissions brought about by the development model of energy-driven economy cannot be ignored.By combing the existing researches,it is found that the research on carbon emission efficiency in the western region often stays in the empirical part of regional differences,and there is a relative lack of research on the convergence trend,influencing factors and in-depth systematics of emission efficiency.In view of this,this paper is based on the western region,on the basis of scientific assessment of carbon emission efficiency in the western region,systematic research on carbon emission efficiency in the western region.Firstly,on the basis of combing theory,based on the theory of total factor production and the theory of low-carbon economic development,the super-efficiency Undesirable-SBM model is constructed,and the input-output factors are used toevaluate the carbon emission efficiency of the western region from 2000 to 2016,combined with the ArcGIS system.The spatial and temporal changes of carbon emission efficiency in the western region are analyzed.Secondly,according to the economic convergence theory,the carbon emission efficiency ?,absolute ? and conditional ? convergence models are constructed to study the differences and convergence trends of carbon emission efficiency in the western region.Third,construct a panel regression model to study the impact of major influencing factors on carbon emission efficiency in the western region,and then combine the fuzzy correlation model to explore the core factors that hinder the convergence of carbon emission efficiency in the western region.Finally,based on the results of empirical research,combined with the reality of the western region,it proposes countermeasures for regional carbon emission efficiency improvement and low carbonization development.Through the research,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The overall level of carbon emission efficiency in the western region is not high and has great potential for improvement.The spatial clustering of Arcgis found that the spatial distribution of differentiation and accumulation in the high-efficiency provinces and inefficient provinces in the western region is uneven.(2)It is found by the convergence test that there is no ? and absolute ? convergence in the carbon emission efficiency in the west,southwest and northwest regions,but there is a conditional ? convergence.It shows that the carbon emission efficiency gap between the western regions will not be automatically reduced,but the carbon emission efficiency of the western provinces will develop towards their respective stable states.(3)In terms of influencing factors,economic development level,industrial structure optimization,energy intensity,and degree of openness have significant effects on carbon emission efficiency in the western region,but the influencing factors have different degrees of influence on the southwest and northwest regions;The gap in energy intensity in the western region and the gap in opening up are the main factors that hinder the convergence of carbon emission efficiency in various provinces.This study enriches the research content and empirical methods of carbon emission efficiency in the western region to a certain extent.
