Compared with his outstanding performance as a painter in the field of painting,many people will ignore David Hockney's academic research on art and optics.Domestic research and understanding of him are more focused on the form analysis of his works,such as collage,photographic creation and spatial techniques.In his creation stage from naturalism to photographic collage this transformation process,in order to solve their own limited under the influence of western traditional watch model,as a painter he traces from the perspective of technology since the 15 th century there have been a tradition of vision,in the period of European artists use optical instrument system to help painting in the process of the history he is also more aware of their creative ideas.This archaeological background of art history also reveals from the side how he,as a painter,thought about the relationship between technology and painter's skill through his artistic practice,and the relationship between painter and new technology.Hockney's research provides further insight into the evolution of assistive techniques in painting and the changing cognitive patterns of viewing.In this paper,David Hockney's optical research is taken as the main research object to deeply explore the formation process of David Hockney's optical research,the typical problems causing controversy,the representative criticism of the existence of this research,the impact on science and art,and the impact on his own creation.This paper is divided into five chapters except the introduction.The first chapter:what is the optical research of David Hockney ? As the focus of the discussion,it explains the generation background and composition form of David Hockney's optical research,and briefly summarizes the content of David Hockney's optical research.The second chapter,after discussing what David Hockney's optical research is,focuses on "what has caused wide attention or discussion in his research?" Why does his research focused on western academics controversy and discussion,The most concerned andcontroversial part of his research in the western critics is to analyze and study the typical problems in the optical research of David Hockney,and extract his own views and views by sorting out his own optical research.Chapter 3,"What are the specific contents of the discussion caused by the study and what are the attitudes of the parties?" This Chapter mainly discusses the background introduction,viewpoint arrangement and art history effect caused by the wide controversy and discussion among experts and scholars in the art and science circles caused by his research results.In this debate,three experts in different fields will be selected to analyze and summarize their views.Three experts interpret Hockney's research from visual culture,the Angle of science technology,painting practice,they are western art critics visual culture research expert James Elkins,optical professor David G.Stork,as a peer of the 20 th century American realist painter Philip Pearlstein.The fourth chapter,which is also the most important part of this paper,analyzes the optical research of David Hockney step by step,and then responds to the potential connotation of the article "technology and painter's skills" by combining the author's observation and reflection on the optical research of David Hockney.Chapter five,the previous four chapters of the analysis of a summary,the end of the text.
