| Global warming has increasingly become the focus of human attention. As cities are the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, the impact of the spatial structure of cities on carbon emissions has become a hot topic for scholars in various countries. As the world’s most populous country and second largest economy,China ’s greenhouse gas emissions also surpassed the United States to rank first in the world. In order to achieve the goals of the "Thirteenth Five-Year" Comprehensive Work Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, implement basic national policies for resource conservation and environmental protection, and establish a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society that is government-led,enterprise-driven,market-driven,and socially involved. Therefore, how to effectively reduce carbon emissions is imminent.Because compact cities play an important role in effectively alleviating traffic congestion, improving the efficiency of urban land use,and improving the ecological environment, many countries and regions in Europe and the United States have taken it as the core element of urban planning. Most scholars in China also generally believe that compact cities play an important role in alleviating the urban crowding and achieving low-carbon development in China. In this paper,12 prefecture level cities in Heilongjiang Province are selected as the research objects, containing two and a half "Five-Year Plan" from 2006 to 2017 are taken as the time span. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The distribution matches the regional pattern of the economic development level of Heilongjiang Province, and the gap between the Eastern and western cities has a trend of gradually narrowing.Based on the calculation of carbon emission intensity, the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of urban carbon emission intensity in Heilongjiang Province are studied by using standard deviation ellipse model. The results show that the spatial distribution of carbon emission intensity in Heilongjiang Province has a significant direction trend, but the change range with time is small.Economic growth, population density, technological progress and opening up process are negatively correlated with carbon emission intensity, while the proportion of secondary industry is positively correlated.(2)Entropy method is used to measure the compactness of 12 prefecture level cities in Heilongjiang Province. On this basis, the compactness of four time nodes is divided into four levels by using the natural breakpoint classification method in ArcGIS,so as to explore the space-time evolution characteristics. The research shows that Harbin has the highest compact level, but it has a downward trend in the research period.Daqing is in a stable high-value area, and the regional compactness in the north and East is relatively low.(3)On the basis of determining the correlation between the intensity of carbon emission and the compactness, this paper uses the Geographical Weighted Regression model(GWR)to explore the temporal and spatial differences of the impact of urban compactness on the carbon emission of each city in Heilongjiang Province. The analysis shows that: during the research period, the impact intensity of urban compactness on carbon emission has a significant increase trend, and the increase speed of different cities is different. The impact intensity of urban compactness in Heilongjiang Province shows a ladder Degree differentiation pattern. Finally, according to the conclusions, from the perspective of urban compactness, combined with other influencing factors, the paper puts forward policy recommendations for reducing urban carbon emissions in Heilongjiang Province. |
