Changes in the spatial pattern of pollution-intensive industries may lead to problems of ecological pollution and environmental quality in different regions. Therefore,it is important to study the impact of the evolution of the spatial pattern of pollution-intensive industries on regional ecological and environmental effects. For a long time, the economic development of the three provinces of Northeast China has come at the cost of large consumption of resources and environmental pollution, with the ecological environment quality of the three provinces of Northeast China gradually decreasing. In recent years, the economic level of the three provinces in Northeast China has been relatively slow compared to that of most cities. The massive consumption of various resources and the intensification of environmental pollution problems have gradually become prominent with the economic development. In the context of a new round of industrial layout adjustment and structural upgrade, exploring the evolution of the spatial pattern of pollution-intensive industries and analyzing the trend of concentration and diffusion of pollution-intensive industries will help promote the rational distribution of pollution-intensive industries and effectively reduce environmental pollution..Therefore,this paper selects the panel data of prefecture-level cities in the three provinces of Northeast China from 2000 to 2016,and uses the exploratory spatial analysis method to study the overall development trend of pollution-intensive industries in the three provinces of Northeast China.Explore the spatiotemporal characteristics of the evolution of pollution-intensive industries in the three provinces of Northeast China from three aspects: time, space and industry. Then analyze the environmental status of the three Northeast provinces as a whole and 36prefecture-level cities respectively, and summarize the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of the environment in the three Northeast provinces. An environmental Kuznets curve model was established based on the industrial wastewater, exhaust gas,SO2 emissions, industrial solid waste generation, and economic indicators to analyze the relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution in the three northeastern provinces. Finally,it explores the impact of the evolution of thespatiotemporal pattern of pollution-intensive industries on the environment, and analyzes its spatial spillover effects.Based on the empirical results and the actual situation of the three Northeast provinces,it proposes relevant countermeasures. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The growth rate of pollution-intensive industries in the three northeastern provinces is large, and the output value generally increases first and then decreases, and the total output value increases by 7.2 times;and the proportion of the output value of pollution-intensive industries to the total industrial output value fluctuates. The pollution-intensive industries are subdivided into industries, and the evolution characteristics of different types of pollution-intensive industries are different, and their development trends are slightly different.(2)Pollution-intensive industries in the three provinces of Northeast China show significant agglomeration characteristics in space, and their overall spatial dependence first strengthens and then weakens. The spatial agglomeration and diffusion of different pollution-intensive industries is different. From 2000 to 2016,the spatial distribution of the standard deviation ellipse of the pollution-intensive industries in the three northeastern provinces as a whole contracted first and then spread, and the spatial distribution pattern showed a northeast-southwest pattern;the center of gravity was mainly located at the junction of Tieling and Siping, showing overall trends. The trend of shifting from the southeast;the range of hot spots in industrial evolution has remained basically stable, concentrated in most cities in Liaoning Province in the three northeast provinces,sub-hot spots and sub-hot spots are concentrated in the central cities of the three eastern provinces, and cold spot areas are concentrated in the three northeastern provinces Most cities in northern Heilongjiang Province.(3)The three provinces of Northeast China have relatively serious environmental pollution, and the total emissions of pollutants are relatively large. However, the emissions of the four major pollutants, except industrial solid waste, are on a downward trend. From a spatial point of view, the emissions of various pollutants in LiaoningProvince are at the forefront, indicating that the environmental problems associated with the rapid economic development are inevitable. The relationship between the economy and the environment of the three northeastern provinces does not comply with the strict environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis. The emissions of different pollutants and the EKC curve of economic growth show different shapes.(4)The spatial evolution of pollution-intensive industries in the three provinces of Northeast China has an inverted "U" curve relationship with environmental pollution. That is,as the industry gradually agglomerated, environmental pollution became more and more serious.Productivity, the use of technical effects to improve environmental protection technology, reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy,to achieve the purpose of improving environmental quality. In addition, the analysis of spatial spillover effects shows that the increase in the concentration level of regional pollution-intensive industries will increase local environmental pollution, but can reduce environmental pollution in the surrounding areas. The increase of economic development level and the change of industrial structure will significantly aggravate environmental pollution, while the improvement of technological innovation ability can significantly suppress the discharge of pollutants and improve environmental conditions, but its indirect effects are not significant.
