A Study On The Impact Of Urbanization On Regional Carbon Emissions In Jiangsu Province

The deterioration of the global ecological environment caused by climate warming has become the focus of attention all over the world.The speed of economic development in Jiangsu province is among the best in all provinces of the country,however,Jiangsu province takes the path of high energy consumption and high emission economic development,and development characteristics that the population base is large and the urbanization process is accelerating have brought a lot of carbon dioxide emissions.Therefore,it is to study the influence factors of carbon emissions in Jiangsu,measure the relationship and reduce carbon emissions in the process of urbanization,which is conducive to develop Jiangsu’s urbanization and construct ecological civilization.This paper firstly analyzes the mechanism of population scale effects,economic development effects,urban space effects and ecological environment effects on carbon emissions,then selects the urbanization level,the industrial structure,the trade openness,the per capita GDP,the proportion of built-up area,the per capita area of paved roads and the green coverage rate in built-up area to analyze the relationship between the factors and carbon emissions.Based on the panel data of 13 cities in 2000-2015 years,CO₂ emissions were calculated according to the formulas.The relationship between carbon emissions and economic development was analyzed by using the decoupling indicators and the relationship and affecting the situation between the two was analyzed by using the STIRPAT expansion model.Firstly,as the results show,carbon emissions of the Jiangsu province,southern region,middle region and northern region in Jiangsu are in the weak decoupling state,while the overall trend of three regions is consistent,there are many differences between the change of decoupling coefficient of elasticity,the middle region of decoupling coefficient of elasticity on the whole is less than the southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu,and the change range of northern Jiangsu is larger in comparison;Secondly,there is a long-term stable relationship.The progress of urbanization will increase carbon dioxide emissions overall.Thirdly,the impact of urbanization on carbon emissions between three regions is different,and the elastic coefficients of the influencing factors are also different.The change of per capita GDP in the southern Jiangsu and the northern Jiangsu is one of the biggest factors on regional carbon emissions,the change of population proportion is one of the biggest factors on carbon emissions in the middle region.The foreign trade openness on carbon emissions in the middle region have a positive impact,and the result of the southern region and northern region is by contrast.Through the analysis of the empirical results and the analysis of the causes of influence factors on carbon emissions,the relevant policy suggestions are put forward.
