A Study On The Ecological Justice Of Contemporary China

In 1960 s,with the advent of industrial revolution,science and technology have witnessed rapid development,which not only brought about a booming economy but also led to a tense relationship for the harmony between human and nature.In that case,the global ecological crisis has broken out,which seriously threatens the survival and development of human beings,and in turn,urges people to deeply reflects on the root of the ecological crisis and finds the way out for the harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature.Although ecological justice is deemed as a relatively new concept,embodying scientific and reasonable social production mode as well as fair and just social distribution,boasts rich contents,which requires human beings to make a rational use of nature.Ecological justice,with characteristics of systematization,diversity,relativity as well as variability,can be divided into interspecific ecological justice and interpersonal ecological justice according to two levels,namely human-to-thing level and human-to-human level.In addition,the latter,interpersonal ecological justice,can be broken down from dimensions of time,space and power.Ecological justice was originated from the environmental justice campaign initiated by the colored people and other vulnerable groups in North Carolina America.Afterwards,fueled by the rise and development of ecological Marxism and through intensive study from various perspectives such as ecological ethics,Marxism,politics and economics,ecological justice has had its connotation constantly enriched,and some research findings have been achieved accordingly.In the process of China’s social and economic development,the “supreme” standing enjoyed by economic development is strongly stressed.Owing to the lack of ecological awareness and top-level design,the profound influence of material culture as well as the imperfect mechanism for ecological compensation,various ecological injustices have emerged,mainly manifested as unequal opportunities,unfair distribution of ecological benefits and responsibilities,and ineffective compensation for ecological responsibilities.The preconditions for realizing ecological justice are to be analyzed from four dimensions,namely economy,politics,culture,science and technology.Specifically,the realization of that is based on ecological economy,guaranteed by ecological politics,propelled by vigorous promotion of sound consumption culture and guided by rational use of science and technology.Moreover,on this premise,Marxist ecological view demanding regular production and reasonable consumption is to be vigorously publicized;correct values transcending materialism are going to be established;toplevel design will be strengthened to bring the government’s leading role into play;as well,the ecological compensation mechanism will be perfected on legislation.With all these efforts,ecological justice is expected to be realized finally.The realization of ecological justice is of tremendous theoretical and practical significance,for it further deepens and improves the theory of sustainable development and the system of ecological civilization.What’s more,this will help build a beautiful China and a community with a shared future for mankind in the future.
