The Changes Caused By The Progress Of Printing Technology In The Late Qing Dynasty And Early Republic Of China

Technological advances have led to a series of changes everywhere.Nowadays,with the progress of mobile Internet technology,human society is undergoing a major communication reform.However,in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China a hundred years ago,due to the influence of the eastward spread of Western Culture,modern Chinese society also experienced great changes unprecedented in the pact 3,000 years.Among them,the development of China's printing technology on the background of that time,the enormous impact and the derived dissemination value can`t be ignored,even for the current social change and development are of great significance.Looking back on the past is to create an even better future.Based on the current research results,the author finds that there are very few series of studies on the progress of printing technology and the impact of the change caused by it from the perspectives of journalism and communication and history,which is the main purpose of the author's decision to devote himself to this topic.This study will use a dual perspective,from the perspective of journalism and communication,to sort out and analyze the relationship between the progress of printing technology and the development of communication in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.At the same time,case analysis will be conducted from the perspective of history.When exploring the impact of modern communication on social change,the author will provide theoretical support for the exploration process by combining the classical theories of sociology and structural functionalism with the theories of journalism and communication.The main research purpose of this paper is to prove the hypothesis that "printing technology progress was the main driving force to promote a series of changes and even social progress" in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Starting from the special period of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,this paper explores the current situation of communication reform from the perspectives of the development of printing technology,printing industry,publishing industry,communication cause and social transformation.Structurally,after clarifying the research question and research path in the first chapter,this article demonstrates the progress of printing technology,and how they promote each other.Then this paper also discusses how communication influence social changes and promote social progress.In the process of demonstration,the author limited the general time range of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China from 1870 to 1920,and the objects of demonstration were determined to be three main parts: characters(who played a key and driving role),institutions(publishing houses,newspapers and printing organizations)and media(books,newspapers and periodicals).From the perspective of journalism and communication and history,this paper demonstrates the establishment of "technology-driven theory",and on this basis,confirms the important role of communication in the reform and development of China's modern society.By reviewing the series of reform processes caused by the progress of printing technology in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,the author takes history as a mirror and summarizes the development experience.At the same time,it is necessary to reflect on the evolution and development of modern human society in the context of new technological revolution and provide reference direction and enlightenment significance.
