With the rapid development of international trade and economic globalization in the past few decades, there is a growing demand for construction land in port area. The sprawl of construction land triggered land use pattern change, causing the loss of ecosystem service value(ESV)in port areas.Quantitative assessment of ecosystem service functions is conductive to the environmental protection, and land use planning works as an important means in realizing the sustainable utilization of land resources in port area.Based on the analysis of operation characteristics in various terminals, this study proposed the calculation methods of ecosystem service value for gas regulation, water reservation and waste disposal service functions to improve the reliability of ESV evaluation model in port ecosystem. The author developed a multi-objective optimization model of land use structure in consideration of the economic, social and ecological benefits of land resources in port areas, which aimed at maximizing the economic and ecological benefits with the constraint of social development. The aforementioned methods and model were applied to a real case study of ESV evaluation and land use structure optimization in one of the port areas of Dalian.Together with the remote sensing and geographic information system techniques, the land use pattern changes from 2001 to 2015 were analyzed. The author proposed some possible suggestions for the ecological environment protection based on the results of ESV evaluation and analysis of relationship between ESV change and the latent driving factors. The genetic algorithm was used to solve the multi-objective optimization problem and the benefits of several scenarios on the Pareto front with different decision preferences were discussed. It's indicated that the abovementioned ESV calculation methods and the multi-objective optimization model of land use structure can provide references for ecological protection and efficient utilization of land resources in port areas.
