Low-carbon community construction is of great significance for coping with climate change and promoting sustainable development.Community carbon emission assessment is a prerequisite for low-carbon community construction, and can provide a scientific basis for emission reduction target formulation and low-carbon community planning. This study intends to construct a carbon emission assessment system suitable for urban existing communities,to investigate the status of community carbon emissions and provide decision-making reference for community low-carbonization program formulation and implementation;spatial visualization of the case community's carbon emissions is conducted to analyze their spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and give reasonable suggestions for emission reduction policies. The research include the following aspects:1.Establishment of community carbon emission assessment system : based on the IPCC inventory method, determine the assessment objects and scope of community carbon emission assessment system;then divide community into departments and figure out the main carbon sources(direct or indirect)and carbon sinks;give carbon emission calculation method.2.Case analysis : taking a community in Ya'an as an example, this study evaluates its carbon emissions from 2015 to 2017,and analyses the uncertainty of the results to verify the feasibility of the assessment system.3.Spatial visualization of carbon emissions: Based on GIS,the spatial visualization of community carbon emission data is conducted to analyze temporal trends and spatial distribution characteristics of community carbon emissions. The results show that the total carbon emissions of the case community from 2015 to 2017 were 13,726 t,19,857 t and 25,353 t,respectively.Among them, electricity, gas use and transportation were the most important contributors of carbon emissions in that community, accounting for 41.85%,26.12% and 26.59%,respectively.The community's carbon emissions have shown an upward trend in three years, but the growth rates of various sources varied. There was a clear gap between the carbon emissions of different functional buildings in the community.High-rise residences had the highest intensities, followed by retail shops,low-rise residences, enterprises and institutions.Retail shops and residences were the focus of community emission reductions, and the commutes of community residents also had a large potential for emission reduction.
