A Study Of James O’Connor’s Ecological Thought And Contemporary Revelation

With the sustained development of China’s economy,the consumption of natural resources is increasing,and pollution is becoming increasingly serious.Ecological and environmental problems have gradually become an important factor affecting the sustainable green development of China.How to improve the ecological environment has become an important research topic for China’s sustainable development.James O’Connor’s ecological thought was born at the end of last century.By using the unique theory of dual contradictions and double crises of capitalism,this paper reveals the global ecological crisis caused by the development of capitalism,and at the same time outlines the model of ecological socialism and seeks to change life.The impact of the ecological crisis,and expect to achieve ecological socialism through the green movement.After O’Connor’s ecological thought was born and practiced in Europe and America at the beginning of the 21 st century,it finally denied the idea that green movement could transform capitalist society.Later,many eco-Marxist scholars also studied and drew lessons from O’Connor’s ecological thought,and applied O’Connor’s ecological thought to ecological problem management through a series of combination with the current actual situation and practical experience.This has certain reference significance for our country to build ecological civilization and beautiful new China.This paper focuses on O’Connor’s ecological thought。The first part of the article systematically introduces origin of O’Connor’s ecological thought,including the historical origin and realistic background of O’Connor’s ecological thought.The second part mainly summarizes the main content of O’Connor’s ecological thought.Including O’Connor’s analysis of the problem of production and distribution in capitalist society,the revelation of capitalist crisis and contradiction,and the conception of solving capitalist crisis.Among them,the theory of dual contradictions and double crises of capitalism is emphatically analyzed.The third part elaborates the advantages and disadvantages of O’Connor’s ecological thought.The fourth part analyses the problems faced in the process of ecological civilization construction at present stage in China.Combine with O’Connor’s ecological thought,come up with the solution.including promoting the rule of law,promoting people’s awareness of ecological environment protection and so on.
