Study On The Properties Of Llama Fiber And Its Product Development

With the large quantity of wool imported and exported in recent years,the consumer market has great potential,but the import supply of wool textile raw materials has been limited.Special wool textile fibers are gradually active in our vision,and the Llama fiber is one of them.The Llama fiber is a special wool textile raw material from South America.It has a long history of textile application in South America and has become one of the popular raw materials in wool textile industry in recent years.As one of the Andean camel families,the Llama is not the same species as the Alpaca.There are obvious differences in fiber properties.What's more,the Llama fiber and the alpaca hair are confused.So far,the National Standards Committee has not made a clear distinction between them.Therefore,the main purpose of this paper is to distinguish alpaca fiber from Llama fiber by studying the fiber properties of Llama fiber and comparing the properties of alpaca fiber and cashmere.The technology and yarn properties of Llama fiber blended yarn are designed and studied,and the development and performance test of Llama fiber blended fabrics are carried out.In the study of fiber properties,Llama fiber was compared with cashmere and alpaca fiber.Alpaca fiber was selected from three different samples,namely young alpaca fiber,alpaca fiber and Suri fiber.The apparent structure and physical and mechanical properties of these five kinds of fibers were studied.It was found that compared with alpaca fiber,the scales of Llama fibers wrapped axially are more compact.Compared with cashmere,the scales of Llama fibers are thinner,the scales wrapped smoothly,bringing natural luster to the fibers.The fineness and breaking strength of Llama fibers are between cashmere and alpaca fiber,and the fineness of Llama fibers is comparable,but its strength is much higher than that of cashmere,which is 2.15 cN/dtex.The elastic recovery and friction properties of Llama fiber are better than those of other animal fibers.In the design and development of blended yarn,two kinds of blended yarns of Llama fiber and Australian mercerized wool were developed according to the performance characteristics of Llama fiber.The blending ratio was 70/30(Llama fiber /wool)and 55/45(Llama fiber /wool),respectively.The properties of blended yarn were tested.The two kinds of blended yarns also have unique characteristics in wear resistance,strength and hairiness.The blended yarns with higher content of Llama fiber have more smooth surface,less short hairiness and better fiber evenness.The blended yarns with lower content of Llama fiber have more plush,better friction performance,larger volume and more fluffy yarn.The suitable blending ratio can be selected according to the demand of fabric style for product development.In the design and development of blended fabrics,eight five flying weft fabrics were used to strengthen the structure of satin weave,80/20(wool/nylon)warp yarn was used to enhance the fabric structure,and two different blending ratios of Llama fiber were used to design weft yarns.The blending ratio of blended fabrics is 50/45/5(Llama fiber/wool/nylon)and 65/30/5(Llama fiber/wool/nylon),respectively.After weaving,the front of the fabric is finished by weft wool pulling and shearing.The fabric produced is single-sided plush fabric,which can be used to make winter coat fabrics.The fabrics are soft,waxy and plump,with good drape and luster.The fluff is facing the outside with natural fur texture,and the flat face is facing the inside,which improves the comfort of wearing.Through a series of fabric performance tests,including the apparent physical and mechanical properties,thermal and wet comfort properties,appearance and size retention properties and fabric style.The blended fabrics with higher content of Llama fiber have softer and more directional surface plush,better gloss,but light color is easy to expose to the bottom.The blended fabrics with lower content of Llama fiber have stronger surface fluff and dense fabric.
