| The ecological footprint approach was proposed by the ecological economist Rees in 1992.The model was promoted and used by quantifying human occupation of ecological resources.The specific research methods,research scope and research objects have also been continuously improved and innovated.With the economic development and the growth of social demand,the ecological damage problems such as water and soil pollution,depletion of resources and frequent natural disasters have been gradually complicated and globalized.Moreover,the accumulated ecological problems have threatened the regeneration capacity of ecosystems and the survival of human beings.It is the current demand to maintain sustainable development,including the aspects of ecological,social and economic,etc..Therefore,a scientific and rational evaluation system can be established to evaluate the regional ecological carrying capacity and the pressure of human activities on the regional ecological environment.The approach has gradually become one of the effective evaluation methods for sustainable development research through gradual innovation and wide application.Based on the improved the ecological footprint approach,this paper makes a time series measurement and analysis of the ecological footprint(EF),ecological carrying capacity(EC),GDP ecological footprint(GE),ecological deficit(ED),and ecological sustainability index(ESI)of Huainan City from 2001 to 2017.The research object is Huainan City,and the equalization factor and production factor are all regional.Furthermore,the vector root autoregressive model(VAR)and the vector error correction model(VEC)based on unit roots were used to analyze the relationship between integrated ecological footprint and economic growth,and to make econometric analysis of the relationship among bio-footprint needs,energy footprint requirements and economic growth.The main conclusions of Huainan City’s ecological footprint analysis from 2001 to 2017 are as follows:(1)During the study period,the per capita ecological footprint of Huainan City has increased from 2001 to 2014,and reached a peak of about 7.5139 hectares in 2014.And there is a downward trend from 2015 to 2017.Among the components of EF,the fossil energy consumption footprint accounts for more than 70% of the annual output.Therefore,the fossil energy land is the main contribution factor of the ecological footprint in the six types of land.(2)For available ecological carrying capacity,it showed a slight decline from 2001 to 2007.In the later period,the total number of the samples increased slowly.And it rose to a maximum of about 0.1242 hectares per capita in 2017.In terms of the proportion of per capita ecological carrying capacity,it was farmland,construction land,forest land,water area and grassland in order.Among them,the arable land accounted for about 50% of the total ecological carrying capacity before 2016,and then increased to about 63%.Secondly,the carrying capacity of construction land decreased from 23% to about 15%,and the carrying capacity of woodland increased gradually,accounting for about 14% in 2017.The carrying capacity of waters and grasslands was relatively fragile.(3)As a typical resource-based city,Huainan City’s comprehensive ecological deficit shows fluctuating increase from 2001 to 2014,to a maximum of 7.4257 hectares per capita to 2014;after that it began to decrease and fell to 6.9925 hectares per capita in 2017.This shows that the contradiction between supply and demand of natural resources in the region has existed for a long time;and after 2014,the ecological pressure has shown a decreasing trend.(4)Combined with the economic development of Huainan City during the research period,the change of GDP ecological footprint(GE is used to explain the utilization efficiency of ecological resources)in this region was in a fluctuating decline,which first decreased,then increased and then decreased again..The ESI of the study area has been lower than 0.20,indicating that the region may have been in an unsustainable state of development during the study period from this perspective.(5)The metrology analysis methods and tools used in this paper,include ecological footprint model,Origin 9.0 and Eviews 8.0,to construct an analysis model for sustainable development in Huainan City.The model is ulteriorly to extract data and information related to the ecosystem and the socioeconomic system of Huainan City.The results show that there is a certain dynamic response relationship between ecological and economical between regional sustainable development;and there is a weak trend of “decoupling” between economic growth and energy consumption. |
