Research On The Impact Of Environmental Regulation On The Technological Innovation Of Resource-based Enterprises

Since China carried out reform and open policy,the population of China has increased dramatically and the economy develops rapidly.With the increasing demand for natural resources,the natural environment and ecological system will be damaged.Resource and environment problems have become an important factor restricting China's sustainable economic development.So environmental protection is urgent.Resource-based enterprises are highly pollution-intensive industries,and environmental protection is inseparable from them.Environmental regulation will bring heavy environmental burden to resource-based enterprises and affect their growth.In order to realize the transformation and upgrading of resource-based enterprises,technological innovation is necessary.The impact of environmental regulation on technological innovation has always been eontroversial in the field of science and technology.According to porter's hypothesis,environmental regulation can promote technological innovation of enterprises,improve their profit margins and enhance their competitiveness.The traditional school of thought holds exactly the opposite view.Therefore,this paper selects China Shenhua,a resource-based enterprise,as the research object to systematically analyze the mechanism of environmental regulation and technological innovation of resource-based enterprises.Based on the characteristics of resource-based enterprises,this paper analyzes whether environmental regulation can promote the technological innovation of enterprises.This paper mainly studies the following three problems:(1)What impact will environmental regulation have on resource-based enterprises?(2)Whether the environmental regulation will promote or inhibit the technological innovation of resource-based enterprises?(3)Whether resource-based enterprises can save energy and reduce emissions through technological innovation and weaken the negative impact brought by environmental regulations?The results of the study are as following:(1)Environmental regulation will have a huge impact on resource-based enterprises.Resource-based enterprises are highly dependent on natural resources and highly polluting.Therefore,environmental regulation will lead to a sharp increase in environmental costs of resource-based enterprises.The limitation of natural resources affects the daily production activities of enterprises,reduces the profit rate of enterprises and affects the competitiveness of enterprises.(2)Environmental regulation will promote technological innovation of resource-based enterprises.Although the environmental cost indirectly caused by environmental regulation increases the burden of technological innovation for enterprises,but in order to reduce the cost of pollution prevention,enterprises will transform their technological processes through technological innovation.(3)Technological innovation helps resource-based enterprises to save energy and reduce emissions and reduce their production costs.The improvement of technological innovation can improve the utilization rate of resources.It can also change the rate of natural resource exploitation,reduce resource consumption,and effectively relieve the pressure of resource supply brought by the strengthening of environmental regulation.
