Design And Application Of Child Back Strap Pattern From Li Ping Dong Minority In Scarf

In Liping County,southeastern Guizhou,there live the 70% of the Dong Minority people of China.They have the amazing Dai songs in the world,the unique Drum Tower architectures,and also the fascinating art of weaving embroidery.For a long time,the study of the ethnic art of the Liping Dong Minority people has basically focused on the Dai songs and the Dai drum towers.However,there are few researches on Dong Minority weaving embroidery art which is also marvelous as well,making it seldom known by the outside world.With the development of the times,all ethnic minorities are also chasing the trend and pace of the times.New things come up into the life of the original villages.Young boys and girls no longer live by traditional crafts,which brings a gap in the inheriting of minority cultures,including the weaving embroidery art of the Liping Dong Minority people.I think that in order to develop of the Liping Dong Minority people's weaving embroidery,we need firstly make it seen and understood by more people.As a designer,I come up with the idea of integrating the Liping Dong Minority weaving embroidery into the designs.After a lot of researches and investigations,I finally chose the carrier of silk scarves as the form of presenting it.In recent years,the position of silk scarves in field of international fashion has been rising,and the quantity of wearers is increasing day by day.This phenomenon is now obvious in China,especially in the south of the Yangtze River.As a big silk country since ancient times,China has considerable advantages in technology and production yield of manufacturing silk weaving.These two points have become important factors when Ichoose the silk scarves as a creative carrier.Additionally,another important reason is that scarves are different from clothing,bags and shoes in terms of cost and pattern presentation.Meanwhile,most domestic scarves are decorated with foreign designs or natural flowers,which is lack in national characteristics.Some other "Chinese scarves" are directly brought in traditional patterns and lacking in innovation.So nowadays,there is a lot of space for improvement in the market of scarves with national characteristics.Based on above factors,I decided to take the back strap pattern of Liping Dong Minority as a breakthrough point in the design and application of silk scarves.
