Over the past four decades of reform and opening up,China's economy has developed rapidly.At the same time,the manufacturing industry,which is the pillar of China's economic development,has brought tremendous pressure on resources and the environment while it is developing at a high speed.Therefore,the development of China's manufacturing industry urgently needs a green transformation.This article focuses on the manufacturing industry as the research object to explore the internal mechanism and path of the green transformation of China's manufacturing industry in order to provide theoretical and empirical support for promoting the green transformation of China's manufacturing industry.Firstly,this article introduced the background and significance of the research on green transformation of manufacturing,and then comprehensively reviewed the relevant research literature of manufacturing transformation and green transformation,and then put forward the concept of the degree of manufacturing green transformation,and clearly defined its main connotation.Secondly,On this basis,the mechanism of the green transformation of China's manufacturing industry was explored from four aspects of environmental regulation,technological innovation,industrial structure optimization,and opening to the outside world,and a model based on the PLS-SEM model(Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Model)was constructed in China.Mechanism of Manufacturing Green Transformation Mechanism.Based on this model,we use the manufacturing-related data of 28 provinces in China(except Tibet,Qinghai,and Xinjiang)from 2005 to 2015 to empirically analyze the mechanism of green transformation in China's manufacturing industry,and the green transformation of manufacturing industries in 28 provinces in China.Quantitative calculations and dynamic analysis are performed to identify the transitional stages in each province.The result shows that envirornmental regulation,technological innovation,optimization of industrial structure,and opening to the outside world have directly and indirectly promoted the green transformation of China's manufacturing industry.Among them,the comprehensive role of opening up is the largest,followed by technological innovation and the integrated role of industrial structure optimization.At present,China's manufacturing industry as a whole is gradually escaping from the traditional”black"development model and moving toward a greener direction.At the same time,there are large regional differences,the phenomenon of unbalanced development of green transformation is more prominent,and it is showing an ever-increasing trend.Overall,the green transformation and development in the eastern region have achieved the best results.Finally,this paper puts forward four suggestions:scientifically formulate a reasonable environmental policy,vigorously support technological innovation,adjust and optimize the industrial structure,and continue to open up to the outside world.This will provide reference for better promoting the green transformation of China's manufacturing industry.
