Fanjingshan mountain is China's 2018 World Natural Heritage declaration project.It meets 3 criteria: Criterion VII,Criterion IX and Criterion X of the World Heritage declaration because of good natural conditions and abundant biological resources.Buddhism plays an important role in the history of human activities in Fanjingshan.Buddhist culture is still alive in modern society,and Buddhist thoughts and Buddhist commandments contain rich ecological thoughts and have positive significance for nature conservation.This study takes Fangjingshan World Natural Heritage Nomination as the research area,through the field investigation,literature review,questionnaire survey,interviewing and comparative analysis to conclude the history of mountain's Buddhism and cultural characteristics,comparing with the similar famous religious mountains to analyse Buddhist effects on nature conservation in contemporary,and explore the nature conservation value of Buddhist culture,to provide relevant evidences for constructing the beautiful China ecological civilization and realizing the harmonious coexistence between human and nature.1.Through the collation of the historical materials,describe development of Buddhism in Fanjingshan and reveal the role of Buddhism in protecting nature.The east of Guizhou is one of the earliest regions in the spread and development of Buddhism.In Fourteenth Century,Buddhism was introduced as the starting point of the Buddhism of the mountain.In history,Buddhism was sealed by Emperor Wanli.However,only small part temples were kept today because of comprehensive influences of four wars and other factors.On the one hand,the Buddhist inscriptions of Ming and Qing Dynasties described the good environment of the mountain,the scenery is beautiful and can be fairy.On the other hand,it forbids the exploitation of forest resources,cautions descendants to protect environment,birds and animals in order to inherit for future generations fortune,it reflects the simple and sustainable development view,which is still meaningful in contemporary society,has the practical significance and plays a warning role for people.2.By comparing with the heritage sites and the nonheritage religious mountains,this paper analyzes the natural conservation performance and measures of Fanjingshan under the influences of Buddhist culture,and sums up its characteristics.The shortest and single Buddhist culture in all contrasts is beneficial to the protection of nature in a certain degree.Second only to the protection grade of the World Heritage,the conservation of nature is promoted.Through the attention of governments to Buddhism,the forest is maintained and the forest-cutting is forbidden.The way of living of monks reflects the harmony of nature and human,Buddhist architecture and other cultural landscapes are built on the mountain,highlighting the idea of "harmony between man and nature" and contributing to the natural conservation of the mountain.3.On the basis of questionnaire survey and interview,the cultural influence of Fanjingshan's Buddhism is analyzed.According to the results of the investigation,the scope of Buddhist influence is limited to the province and the surrounding areas,the influence of culture is weak,and more than 20% of the interviewee do not understand Fanjingshan's Buddhism.Buddhist activities is mainly related to Guanyin's birth in the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year and 19 th,July of the Chinese lunar calendar,and the management about Buddhist activities in Fanjingshan is stricter by protecting animals as main form of conservation.The interviewer's assessment of Buddhist culture is general,with a comprehensive score of 6.3 points,and Buddhism in Fanjingshan has development potential.4.On the basis of universal value of Buddhism,according to the characteristics of Buddhist culture in Fanjingshan,its intrinsic ecological value is analyzed.The ecological view of Buddhism reveals the connection between human and nature through the theory of origin and causality.Man and nature are life communities by sharing the closely related fate,to treat nature well is to treat humanity well.With the theme of mercy,Guanyin culture shows that the life of man and nature is completely equal and "the man control nature" does not exist.Maitreya culture is the theme of the pure land,and seeks the harmonious development of man and nature through the description of the world in the future.Then the article put forward three suggestions for the development of Buddhism in Fanjingshan,strengthen the education of Buddhist ecological view,develop the characteristic Buddhist culture industry,and strengthen the Buddhist cultural experience,to promote the ecological development of Fanjingshan from the two aspects of material civilization and spiritual civilization.
