Ever since the later Song Dynasty and the early Yuan Dynasty,the craftsmen in Jingdezhen started to employ the classical binary recipe?Kaolin-Porcelain stone?as the foundation of domestic porcelain industry.This body has a superior transparency as containing 40-60%of glass phase inside,and creating many high quality products.The feature "as white as jade,as bright as mirror,as thin as paper,sound as loud as boulder" describing Jingdezhen porcelain has renowned all over the world,which also met the need of sensual pleasures.Since the high quality porcelain stones were increasingly depleted as time went on,and the higher quality of product was required by increasingly mature industrialization of porcelain industry.the drawbacks of produced porcelains in Jingdezhen like low mechanical properties and poor resistance to deformation indicated that the traditional binary recipe has seriously limited the development porcelain industry in Jingdezhen.This research applying Kaolin and Porcelain Stone?the traditional formula?as raw materials mainly,along with Talc,quartz,feldspar and other common materials.By adding traces of ?-Al2O3.Characterizations like XRD,SEM,TG-DTA were employed to analyze the basic properties of prepared bodies.The results indicate that the optimal formula contains 20%Kaolin,50%NingCun Porcelain Stone,9%of potash feldspar,5%petalite,1%Talc,9%quartz and 9%?-Al2O3?0.5?m?.Granding time is 30 minutes,soaking for half a hour with the firing temperature of 1380? as the optimal processing condition.Better performance of prepared bodies can be obtained under optimized conditions,as shown in the rupture strength as high as 112.8MPa,with a 10.1%firing shrinkage,0.12%of water absorption and 70 of distortion angle.This innovative research has proposed a way to solve the bottleneck problem of traditional Jingdezhen porcelain body by reserving the original characteristic and controlling the glass phase content to increase the strength of product and to reduce the firing deformation and shrinkage.This research tends to establish a theoretical and practical basis of high quality daily porcelain for large-scale production in future.
