The European men's wear structure from the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century is an important historical junction in the history of structural development and it is also the ancestor of the modern men's wear structure.Exploring the European men's wear structure during this period is helpful for understanding the modern men's wear structural systems and the development of cutting techniques. This topic is based on the introduction, translation, combing, comprehensive comparative analysis and integration of relevant important foreign literature and analyzes its structural characters with the basis of historical development of European men's wear.It also combines with The Dress Code to analyze the impact of structural development and stereotypes on the construction of modern men's wear stems during this period. The changes of men's wear structure in Europe are in line with the development law of “Simplified-Complex-Simplified” spiral upwards. The thesis analyzes the structural characteristics of men's wear in different periods with the boundary of the 19 th century.Compared with the men's wear structure from the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century,The focus of European men's structural changes is mainly on the men's tops. The “three-slit structure” and “victorian costume structure” are the typical structures during this period. The development of the "three-slit structure" reflects the historical inheritance of the European men's wear structure. The transformation from the "side seam" to the "knife back seam" marks that it has walked into maturity from immaturity. In addition,it lays the foundation for the development of the "victorian costume structure".Victorian costume structure with the imprint of the times has formed three symbolic features in the development, namely the “cut-in”,“fish” and “waistline”.It has also become an important basis for constructing the map of victorian costume structure. The European men's wear structure from the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century is the most common structural system used and taken examples by modern clothing design. At the end,the thesis uses the classic cases to make application analysis and then obtains the path of inheritance and innovation for the structural design. Therefore, the thesis takes history as its guidance to learn about the development context and characteristics of the classic structure, which has important theoretical and practical values for the future innovation and design of clothing, which will be beyond the classic.
