Xie Yibing And The Development Of Meteorological Higher Education In Modern China

In the 1920 s,Zhu Kezhen,a famous meteorologist,began to set up meteorology in China's colleges and universities.In less than 30 years,meteorological education has been created by Zhu Kezhen and other meteorologists,and consolidated and developed by Tu Changwang,Zhao Jiuzhang,Li Xianzhi and other meteorologists.By the time new China was founded,meteorological education had a certain foundation.At this time,a new group of meteorologists who came back from abroad are the third generation leaders of China's meteorological cause.With their efforts,modern atmospheric science has integrated the basic mathematical theory into meteorology and successfully separated itself from geography.This paper mainly introduces professor Xie Yibing,who plays an important role in the integration of modern meteorology and physics.At the beginning of modern meteorological education in China,he came to the Department of Meteorology of Tsinghua University.In the1950 s,new China was just founded.It was in urgent need of meteorological talents,and it coincided with the special environment of anti us and aid Korea,which made China's modern meteorology have to develop as soon as possible.At his suggestion,the Department of Meteorology of Tsinghua University was merged into the Department of physics of Peking University when the Department was adjusted in 1952,which ushered in a new era of integration and common development of Meteorology and physics.This paper deals with Xie Yibing's life,achievements in meteorological research and achievements in meteorological education.It studies his whole educational experience from home to abroad,mainly focusing on his special experience influenced by the Chicago School of Meteorology during his stay in the United States.By studying Xie Yibing's meteorology education in different periods and combining with his many working examples after returning home,this paper analyzes his personal scientific spirit and combs his great contribution and far-reaching influence on Meteorology higher education.This article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter describes the germination of Xie Yibing's educational thought.Under the influence of his family and early education,Xie Yibing had the idea of rejuvenating the country through education for a long time.The second chapter describes Xie Yibing's exposure to different meteorology education at home and abroad,as well as some meteorological practice activities.He received meteorological education from Li Xianzhi and Tu Changwang in China,and participated in the most cutting-edge Meteorological Research of Chicago school after he went abroad,which had an important influence on introducing modern meteorology teaching into China after he returnedhome.The third chapter reflects Xie Yibing's scientific spirit of seeking truth from facts,insisting on self and facing difficulties as a new generation of meteorologist through his three representative works,namely,the reform of Meteorology major,the demonstration of the Three Gorges Project and his participation in the study of "75.8 northern rainstorm".In chapter four,after the reform of meteorology,Peking University introduced a lot of modern meteorology courses,improved the modern meteorology education,and through a large number of Meteorology talents training in Peking University,it had a huge impact on the development of China's Meteorological higher cause.
