Chongzuo White-headed Langur National Nature Reserve is located in the southwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China. It belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate. It was formed by the merger of Chongzuo Animal Protection Station and Fusui Animal Protection Station, and became a national nature reserve in 2010.The reserve is rich in wildlife and plant resources, but after the establishment of the reserve,no systematic investigation and research has been conducted on its wildlife resources. In order to assess the status of large and medium-sized mammals and forest birds in the reserve,60 infrared camera traps were set in the Duozhu area of the reserve for continuous monitoring for 20 months from January 2017 to August 2018.The results of this study provide a deep understanding of the wildlife diversity in the Chongzuo White-headed Langur National Nature Reserve and this data is important for future research and protection management. The main result is following:According to the sparse curve of camera-days and species number,in the period of 22,756 camera-days,the number of mammal species no longer changes at about 5000 camera-days,while the number of bird species has been increasing slowly. The analysis shows that the sampling of mammals in this survey is sufficient, while the birds still need to increase the sampling volume.2.We identified 17 mammal species and 36 bird species, including Trachypithecus francoisi and Macaca assamensis two Class ?state key protected animals, and Prionodon pardicolor,Macaca mulatta,Gallus gallus,Lophura nycthemera,Pitta soror,Pitta nympha,Accipiter trivirgatus,Spilornis cheela,Strix leptogrammica,Glaucidium cuculoides and Centropus sinensis eleven Class ?state key protected animals(2 species of mammals and 9 species of birds).Based on a relative abundance index,Leopoldamys edwardsi,Callosciurus erythraeus,Melogale moschata,Tupaia belangeri and Sus scrofa were ranked as the five most abundant mammal specices.Lophura nycthemera,Myophonus caeruleus,Pitta soror,Arborophila brunneopectusand Gorsachius melanolophus were ranked as the five most common bird species.3.In the core zone, buffer zone and experimental zone, the number of species photographed in the core area was the highest and the experimental zone was the lowest. There was no significant difference in species number, species diversity index, evenness index and unit capture rate between core zone, buffer zone and experimental zone. This may be due to the relatively complete ecosystem of Chongzuo Reserve, which provides abundant food for wildlife.4.There was no significant difference in species number, species diversity index, evenness index in different seasons, but there were certain differences in the species of mammals and birds monitored in different seasons in the reserve. This reflects the strategy of the sympatric species to obtain more food and water by changing the time and space of their activities in different seasons.5.Lophura nycthemera,Myophonus caeruleus,Callosciurus erythraeus and Sus scrofa are diurnal animals, and there are two peaks of activity in the morning and dusk. And the daytime activity rhythm of the four animals have some differences in different zones.Melogale moschata is a nocturnal animal, and there is no significant difference in the daytime activity rhythm in different zones. The activity rhythms of different animals vary according to the seasons, mainly due to the need to avoid high temperatures in the dry season and to prolong the activity time for food acquisition and storage.6.There are significant differences in the use of different habitats between birds and mammals, which are mammals prefer evergreen broad-leaved forest, while birds prefer evergreen and deciduous broad leaved mixed forest. There was no difference in habitat choice between Callosciurus erythraeus,Lophura nycthemera and Melogale moschata.
