From 2016 to 2019,the systematic investigation on the butterfly in Hupingshan National Nature Reserve(hereinafter referred to as Hupingshan)was conducted.Based on the theory and analysis methods of biodiversity, the butterfly resources and their community structure, occurrence dynamics, and species diversity characteristics in Hupingshan, and the influence of human disturbance on the occurrence of butterflies were analysised. The main res ults are as follows:1.Resources and community structures of butterfly in HupingshanIn this study,a total of 223 species of butterflies belonging to 119 genera in 19 subfamilies of 5 families are recorded.103 butterfly species of 46 genera were newly recorded from Hupingshan.Among the China species red list, there are three near threatened species, one vulnerable species and 15 Chinese endemic species.Nymphalidae owned the largest number of species, followed by Hesperiidae,Lycaenidae,Pieridae, and Papilionidae. Most of individuals were belonging to the family Nymphalidae, and then followed by Pieridae,Papilionidae,Lycaenidae,Hesperiidae. The highest Shannon-wiener index was presented in Nymphalidae, and the lowest index in Pieridae. As for the int erspecific richness, the butterfly communities of Hupingshan have a high degree of specialization and adaptation, but lack resilience to external perturbations.2.Dynamics and species diversity of butterfly in HupingshanThe number of butterfly species in Hupingshan increased since April, with a large number of species appearing from May to September, and the peak came in June. The number of butterfly individuals increased since April, reaching the peak in August and forming a downward trend in September. The Shannon-wiener diversity index increased firstly and then decreased, and the highest diversity index presented in June.Different butterfly families variated in different month trend. For the number of species, the family Pieridae mainly appeared in Ma y and June, the peak of Nymphalidae,Papilionidae and Hesperiidae, and Lycaenidae appeared in June,July, and September, respectively. For the number of individuals, the peak of Nymphalidae and Pieridae appeared in May,while that of Papilionidae,Lycaenidae and Nymphalidae appeared in August. There are a few dominant and rare species, but more common species in butterfly community of Hupingshan. This community is generally distributed in superior environment. The monthly species composition and structure in Hupingshan were relatively stable, and most of them were common species.3.The influence of human disturbance on the occurrence of butterflies in HupingshanThe difference of the occurrence of butterfly species between villages and its surrounding areas in Hupingshan were compared. No distinct difference in the total number of butterfly species of villages and surrounding areas was found, while the average values of the species occurring in villages are higher than that of the surrounding areas, and the average values of the butterfly individuals occurring in the villages are higher than that of the surrounding areas. In addition, the Pielou evenness indexes of the butterfly communities in surrounding areas were generally higher.
