The marine industry has a positive effect on the rapid development of coastal cities.Compared with inland cities, because of their unique location advantages and resource endowments, coastal cities can not only promote their own development through the development of marine industries, but also provide platforms and resources for the development of other extended industries radiated by the marine industry, and then from the economy.Multi-dimensionality such as society and society show stronger development. The impact of the marine industry on the development of coastal cities includes the direct economic benefits brought by the marine industry and the indirect benefits brought about by the rise of other supporting industries driven by the vigorous development of the marine industry. It promotes economic growth, population expansion, and deepening foreign exchanges. The development of coastal cities. This paper uses the data of 53 coastal cities in China from 2005 to 2013 to study the impact of marine industry on the development of coastal cities through fixed effect models and random effects models.Combined with the law of urban development and the general characteristics of marine industry affecting urban development, the urban population size is introduced as a threshold variable, and the threshold effect model is tested to analyze the nonlinear relationship between marine industry and coastal city development. The study found that on the one hand, both marine fisheries, shipbuilding and marine transportation have different degrees of promotion for coastal urban development;on the other hand, marine fisheries, shipbuilding and marine transportation are all on the coast. There is a clear threshold effect on urban economic development. When the population size exceeds the threshold of 2.30 m,2.253 m and 4.10 m respectively, marine fisheries, shipbuilding and marine transportation have a significant positive impact on coastal urban development, but with the change in population size, the impact of marine fisheries on the development of coastal cities has gradually weakened, and the impact of shipbuilding industry and marine transportation industry on the development of coastal cities has gradually increased. Therefore, this paper believes that the development of marine industry has a positive role in promoting the development of coastal cities. However, while developing,it should pay attention to the upgrading of the industrial structure of the marine industry, moderately develop marine fisheries, and vigorously develop industries such as marine manufacturing and marine transportation. At the same time,we should also pay attention to the differences in resource endowments of different cities, and develop relevant marine industries according to local conditions. For example, port cities should develop port economy, etc.,so as to formulate this differentiated policy.
