Acanthopanax senticosus is a perennial woody plant belonging to Acanthopanax of Araliaceae,which is a clonal plant classified.This research had set up 91 quadrats with the total area of 0.91hm2 in the Acanthopanax senticosus distribution areas,including Mount Wutai in the north end of Taihang Mountains in Shanxi Province,Mount Luya in the north end of Luliang Mountains,Pangquangou,Lingkong Mountain deep in the Taiyue Mountains,and Lishan Mountain in the eastern sector of Zhongtiao Mountains.The quadrats were investigated,and related quantitative ecological methods were employed to study the Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities from the points of view of species composition,floristic characteristics,life form spectrum,quantitative classification,species diversity and interspecific association,with an aim to provide certain theoretical foundation for the management and protection of Acanthopanax senticosus in Shanxi Province.The following research results were obtained.(1)A total of 231 plant species were counted from the Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities in the 5 study plots,belonging to 178 genuses of 62 families.Among them,gymnospermae could be classified into 3 species of 3 genuses of 2 families,while ferns could be classified into 4 species of 4 genuses of 4 families,and the remaining were angiospermae.There were 29 species of 20 genuses of 9 families of the monocotyledons among angiospermae,while 195 species of 151 genuses of 47 families of the dicotyledons.The 58 spermatophyte families in the Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities in Shanxi could be divided into 12 distribution patterns,which was dominated by the world distribution pattern(43.10%).There were 14 distribution pattern among the genuses,and the north temperate zone pattern showed the most abundant distribution proportion,covering 65 genuses and accounting for 32.30%.This was consistent with the fact that the study plotslocated in the north temperate zone.Among the 5 study plots,the Acanthopanax senticosus species,as well as genus and family compositions of the community species basically displayed the gradually decreasing trend from south the north.With regard to life form spectrum,hemicryptophytes were predominated,followed by phanerophytes and chamaephytes,while few geocryptophytes and annual plants were observed,which displayed the distinct temperate zone feature.For quantitative ecological classification and species diversity analysis of Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities in Shanxi,the TWINSPAN classification method was employed to divide the Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities(a total of91 sample plots)into 8 different association types in concert with the concrete ecological significance.The species diversity was analyzed and discussed through different association classification,and 4 species diversity indexes(species richness index,Shannon-Wiener species diversity index,Simpson ecological dominance index,and Pielou evenness index)were adopted for analysis,so as to obtain the sort order.Finally,conclusions could be obtained in combination with the general situation in the practical study areas.Judging from the changes in species diversity in Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities at arborous,shrub and herbaceous layers,some hydrothermal conditions were appropriate for community growth.The association richness index and Shannon-Wiener index classified by Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities followed the order of herbaceous layer> shrub layer> arborous layer.32 dominant species(classified through significant value)and 496 species pairs were selected from the Acanthopanax senticosus survival communities for interspecific association analysis.According to the chi-square test values,217 pairs out of the 32 dominant species and 496 species pairs showed positive interspecific associations and 279 pairs displayed negative interspecific associations.Only 1 pair was remarkably positively correlated with Acanthopanax senticosus,and 3 pairs were extremely negatively and markedly negatively correlated with Acanthopanax senticosus.The Pearson correlation coefficient and Spearman rank correlation coefficient could accurately and intuitively obtain the associations among the dominant species in the Acanthopanax senticosus survivalcommunities.211 positively correlated species pairs and 285 negatively correlated species pairs were obtained through testing the Pearson coefficient,among which,2 pairs showed remarkably positive correlations with Acanthopanax senticosus and 11 pairs displayed extremely negative and significantly negative correlations with Acanthopanax senticosus.Analysis of Spearman rank correlation coefficient suggested that,245 pairs showed positive associations,while 251 pairs showed negative associations,among which,6 pairs were extremely positively correlated with Acanthopanax senticosus,and 16 pairs were extremely negatively and significantly negatively correlated with Acanthopanax senticosus.In terms of test sensitivity,the Spearman rank correlation coefficient was superior to chi-square test and Pearson correlation coefficient test.Results of Spearman rank correlation coefficient suggested that,the positively and negatively associated species pairs were basically equal,which accounted for 50%,respectively,indicating relatively stable growth of Acanthopanax senticosus plant survival community in Shanxi.
