Elsholtzia stauntoni, Labiatae, Elsholtzia. growing fast, flowering time early and long, colorful and fragrant. Have great utilization value,for example in the garden Greening, insect-resistant, honey, oil extraction, and industrial production, etc. In this paper, On the basis of field investigation, by the method of quantitative ecology, From the study area and general aspects to study Population and community of shanxi Elsholtzia stauntoni systematically and comprehensively,including: population dynamics, community species composition,flora, life form spectra, classification, species diversity, biomass and interspecific association. The results showed that:(1) In the five research areas, Elsholtzia stauntoni species height and community species and genera composition basically Show the reduced gradually from south to north. genera distribution area are based on the distribution and the north temperate zone distribution of dominant Potential, pantropical distribution times; Of life with high preponderance of plant and chamaephytes ground shoots,underground bud, annual plants are less, with obvious temperate characteristics.(2) The population density of not less than 0.7, the relative density is largely accounted for more than 70% in Xing tang mountain, and the other Compared to four research areas is the highest, and the rest several regional population density and relative density of red cliff of the grand canyon And through the hill above the tian long mountain and Gao Luo xiang, decreases gradually from south to north, general trend. Through the mountain Li and Xing tang mountain The age class are mainly distributed in 30-90 cm, Gao Luoxiang, red cliff, and the tian long mountain mainly distributed in 0--60 cm, within the scope of the Elsholtzia stauntoni species is mainly composed of middle and small individuals, which is the development trend of growth.(3)There were totally 183 species belonging to 127 genera of 53 families in Elsholtzia stauntoni community. Among them there were ferns and gymnosperms 1 family, 1 generas and 1 species;Dicotyledonous plants, genera and species respectively, 45, 107, 162,Monocotyledonous is relatively less 6, 18 and 19 respectively. There were 36 species of plants in shrub layer, in which Rosaceae was the family with the richest species. In shrub layer, the species composition was simpler than herb layer. There were 147 species of plants in herb layer,and Asteraceae was the predominant family.The flora of 53 families founded in the community was classified into 5 areal types, the world distribution pattern was predominant that accounted for 40.74% of the total families. 15 types and subtypes of Genus of distribution, of which north temperate elements had 41 genera. revealing north temperate characteristics.(4) The high bud in the study area plant communities was themost abundant species, accounting for 34.43% of the total species, followed by hemicryptophyte and chamaephyte, accounting for27.32% and 22.95%, hidden bud plant(underground bud plants)and annuals less, only accounting for 4.92% and 10.38%.(5) Based on the 67 plots dataset from the fields, Elsholtzia stauntoni communities were classified into 6 association Groups by TWINSPAN : ?.Elsholtzia stauntoni—Mongolian wormwood,?.Elsholtzia stauntoni—Duchesnea indica, ?. Elsholtzia stauntoni—Artemisia dubia, ?.Elsholtzia stauntoni—Setaria viridis, ?.Elsholtzia stauntoni—Agrimonia pilosa, ?.Elsholtzia stauntoni—Artemisia gmelinii, the results showed that the Elsholtzia stauntoni are a single dominant species in the study area,occupies the absolute dominance, r the species composition of herb laye is strongly influenced by altitude and slope aspect.(6) The four diversity indices were applied to analyze the species diversity characteristics of Elsholtzia stauntoni community. The results show that the four diversity index is difference obviously.Overall performance is the association ? of Xingtang mountain is highest, suggests that the study area is not only have abundant species composition and configuration is very uniform, and the association ? diversity indices of Tian long mountain and Gao Luoxiang is higher besides Pielou evenness, the other three types of index to a minimum. The index of herb layer is greater than the shrub layer. Association general Patrick richness index, Shannon Wiener diversity index and Simpson diversity index, these three kinds of index size order association general Pielou evenness index, evenness index and the shrub layer.(7) The biomass research of Elsholtzia stauntoni community shows that the shrub layer aboveground biomass accounted for more than95% of the total quadrat biomass, is to determine the key factors of quadrat aboveground biomass, stands in the group of the role of the most obvious, efforts to maintain community stability and other interference against the outside world. Shrub species leaf fresh than smaller than all the branches; Average dry fresh herb species than characterized by Polygonum orientale minimum, maximum of Humulus japonicus.
