With the rapid development of urbanization, the protection of urban biodiversity is the key to the sustainable development of society. This requires balancing the contradiction between the development and protection of natural resources in urban planning and construction, formulating a reasonable green space planning system. As one of the important research methods of landscape ecology, the biotope mapping has become the basic tool for natural protection and urban and rural planning work in many countries. Therefore,in order to explore effective measures and methods suitable for the protection of biodiversity in urban and rural areas in China, taking the city of Baoji as a pilot study area, and combines the research methods of field research and indoor mapping to create a set of ecological unit classification system that integrates vegetation structure parameters,i.e.horizontal structure of vegetation, age of dominant species, vertical structural and forest types, presenting the status of urban green space habitat in the study area as a map.Through the comparison of species richness of vascular plants in green space with different vegetation structures, the effectiveness of this classification system in the collection of urban and rural biodiversity information was examined. Finally, based on the mapping information and test results, the existing problems in the spatial structure of green space in the study area were analyzed, and a set of biodiversity protection system for the city of Baoji was constructed to provide corresponding theoretical basis and solution for future urban biodiversity conservation. The main results of the study are as follows:1.Draw the map of the ecological area of the study area and analyze the landscape pattern. The total area of the study area is approximately 35.39 km~2,including 38 types of biotope and 1079 patches of biotope.Among them, the grey space has the largest area, followed by the blue space. The green space has a small footprint and a large patch density, indicating that the green space is highly fragmented.2.The distribution and composition of green spaces in Baoji City are uneven, with the most semi-closed green spaces, relatively few closed green spaces and semi-open green spaces, and the large green spaces in the two old urban areas of Jintai and Weibin, with high biotope diversity index and rich green types. However, the two new urban areas of Gaoxin and Chencang have small green spaces, and there is also a certain gap between habitat diversity and the old city.3.Baoji city is rich in plant resources.A total of 320 species of vascular plants were investigated in the study area, belonging to 92 families and 246 genera,of which 61.88%were native plants,15.00%were domestic and foreign plants, and 23.12%were foreign plants.4.There are significant differences in the biodiversity of habitats with different vegetation structure types, indicating that the horizontal, structural, vertical structural factors and tree types of the vegetation are the important factors influencing the biodiversity of vascular plants and their combined effects. And the independent effects of horizontal structure factor, vertical structure factor, and tree type factor of vegetation have significant significance, which validates the effectiveness of the ecological unit mapping model that integrates vegetation structure factors in the collection of urban and rural biodiversity information.5.Comprehensively evaluate the biodiversity value of each type of biotope through the total number of vascular plants, the percentage of local species, the total number of plants, the degree of rarity of ecological units, and management intensity.Based on the evaluation results and landscape ecology methods, the problem of green space structure was analyzed, and an effective measure and system suitable for biodiversity conservation in Baoji urban and rural areas was constructed.Above all, based on cartographic information and inspection results,a set of biodiversity protection systems for Baoji city was constructed to help improve urban planning and building capacity while emphasizing protection of ecosystems for the future.Urban biodiversity conservation proposes corresponding theoretical basis and solutions.
