A Study On The Growth Process Of A Dominant Discipline

In the era of knowledge economy,the competition of higher education is more and more intense.Disciplines,as the commitment to university scientific research,personnel training and social service functions of academic organizations,its status in the institution of higher education is self-evident.Therefore,the discipline construction is the core task of the development and construction of colleges and universities,and it is the leading of school reform and development.This paper chooses the Life Science Discipline of Huazhong Agricultural University as the research object.The discipline seizes the opportunity in the 1980 s and has made great achievements.This article intends to deepen the dissecting of the Life Science Discipline of Huazhong Agricultural University,and vividly reveal how the department has developed into a dominant discipline in a short time to achieve the effect of small sight,but also to provide material for the further study of discipline construction.This paper mainly uses the methods of case study,literature research,historical research and process-event research to sort out the development course of life discipline of Huazhong Agricultural University,and lays special stress on analyzing five key nodes,including to seize the forefront of the development of Life Science Discipline,determine the development strategies;access to degree grant;the establishment of biotechnology centers;set up colleges,to achieve the optimal combination of disciplines,to play a comprehensive effect.External environment,the development of subject knowledge,policy support,resource security,academic team and other factors together constitute the growth of the dynamic structure of the subject,the key node is an important opportunity for the development of disciplines.Finally,it examines the course of the growth of the dominant disciplines,sums up the experience of growth,provides a reference for the construction of disciplines in colleges and universities,faces the role of path dependence,and pays attention to the choice of the initial path.It is the rational choice of the subject discipline construction,Build a first-class academic team;grasp the key nodes,to achieve leapfrog development.
