China has a vast territory and is consequently involved in a complex geological condition. Adding that the intensity of human activities in various regions has significant defference, the complexity of regional distribution of landslides is then resulted with various controlling factors and forming mechanisms. Some less reasonable prevention programs have been carried out due to shallow understanding of the distribution and mechanism of landslides. Engineering geological investigations, designs, and reinforcement constructions are commonly not meeting geological conditions because the key ideas of geological engineering have not been complied. These has resulted in two bad things:some landslide remain unstable after repeatedly stabilization, and some other landslides are conducted too conservative stabilizing, resulting in a great waste of social wealth. Therefore, research of the regional distribution of landslides and systematic study on landslide prevention and treatment programs are very valuable. The macro study of regional distribution of landslides has strategic significance for landslide prevention, and implementing the concept of key ideas of geological engineering has tactical meaning for landslide prevention and treatment programs. So that study on the regional distribution of landslide and then the choosing of reasonable prevention and treatment programmes is carried out in this dissertation.Firstly, the regional distribution of landslides in China is studied by the use of contribution rate. Some characteristics of slopes, landslide types, influencing factors were analyzed and summarized. And then739example landslides were choosed to establish a database among7456collected landslides from CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure),"100examples of landslide prevention","landslide anthology" and other literatures. By the use of the database, the contribution rates of altitude and regional landslide intensity are firstly brought out through statistically analyzing the engineering geological conditions. Then six background factors are put forward including slope angle, altitude, sliding direction, landslide type, bed formation, and region. By the combination study of these6factors, the distribution discipline of landslides in China is obtained. Secondly, contribution rates for bedding landslides, which are very common in China, are studied. The contribution rates of bedding layer angle is firstly brought out through statistically analyzing the engineering geological conditions. As a result, a decision method for sliding range is especially brought out versus slide thickness, and the quantitative relationship is made out between the length of slide-induced unloading zone and slide thickness. Comparing with the existing method, in which the range is made out versus excavation depth, the new mthod has more physical and geological significance and is more ease for the applying in landslide prevention engineerings. Finally, reasonable choosing of landslide prevention programme basing on the key ideas of geological engineering is researched. Taking geological engineering analyses as the main process, the method of choosing of landslide prevention programme basing on the key ideas of geological engineering is advanced. The force mode and stability in different processing period are illustrated, basing on which some influencing factors and principals of choosing of landslide prevention programme are brought out and discussed. And then some landslide prevention programmes and according measurements are summarized, and some example landslides are used to prove. During the study of landslide prevention programme, the3key ideas are taken as the guiding ideology to avoid the disjointing of geology, design and construction, which is not uncommon in nowadays.
