Ancient China has a set of traditional discipline classification system and knowledge system which completely differ from the Western's. This knowledge system bases on the "Sibu" of Jing, Shi, Zi,Ji as the main framework which regardless of the differences among history and philosophy. Chinese discipline classification is on the base of the classification of the books, and it embodies the Chinese ancient traditional academic disciplines classification and development. Western modern discipline classification system is standard on the discipline, and it mainly related to the filed of natural science and social science. The differences between Chinese academic classification and the Western classification, fully embody the differences between Chinese disciplines paradigm and the Western's. These also suggest the differences philosophy conceptions and the ways of thinking between Chinese people and Western people.The main content of this paper is about the reforming process that Chinese discipline classification system and knowledge system have been restructured, when the Western concepts of academic division and discipline classification was introduced in China during the late Qing Dynasty. This deeply promulgated the impact and influence on Chinese traditional philosophy conception and the ways of thinking after Western discipline classification system was introduced into China. The important part of this paper is that Chang Chih-tung combines western concepts of discipline classification and develops a classification program named Study of Eight Discipline with the important thinking of Basing on China to Use West.Study of Eight Discipline is the middle transitional stage of the reforming process of Chinese discipline classification system, is also the transitional link of the transformation from Chinese traditional ways of thinking to the Western's.By the historical review on Study of Eight Discipline, Chinese scholars can sufficiently manifest the tremendous effect and the history sense that Western discipline classification functions to Chinese traditional discipline classification system during the late Qing Dynasty. This paper takes Study of Eight Discipline as an example to explain the establishment of Chinese modern discipline classification system and the formation of new disciplinary paradigm; on the other side, to explain the transformation of Chinese traditional ways of thinking in essentially. More importantly, as the preservation of Chinese Confucian traditional knowledge and culture, Chinese scholars should promote the important historical model function to revival Chinese Leanings and promote the Chinese traditional culture.
