With the accelerating process of urbanization,the scale of the city continues to expand and the population of the city has increased dramatically.Urban planning mainly focuses on urban population and industrial layouts,but pays less attention to the characteristics of wind and thermal environment and human thermal comfort.As an important unit of urban space,urban residential areas take on an important responsibility for the construction of urban human settlements.With the continuous development of social development and people's living standards,the living environment of residential areas,especially the outdoor wind and thermal environment of residential areas receive more and more attention.The research scope of this paper is located in Kunming,a city on the low-latitude plateau.Background climatic characteristics of Kunming hve been analyzed and its regional characteristics have been highlighted.Taking a residential area in Kunming as the research object,the impact factors such as the architectural layout,underlying materials,and the green and the water on the environment of the residential area was studied.The impact of each factor on the wind-thermal environment was analyzed from the microscale and expand the vision of planning and design when improving the comfort of wind and heat environment in residential areas.Starting from the evaluation of microclimatic characteristics of residential areas and the comfort of wind and thermal environment,the role of various factors in ventilation,wind prevention,the heat island effect mitigations and construction of a high-comfort environment was analyzed,and the measures for improving the wind-thermal environment were explored.The studies in this paper provided valuable and useful reference materials and practical experiences for formulating relevant laws and regula tions relating to building wind and thermal environmentIn this paper,actual research and numerical simulation methods have been used to explore the formation factors of the wind-thermal environment in the residential area of Kunming in the climatic conditions of specific regions.In this study,through the actural measure,we can find that the maximum outdoor wind speed in the residential area of Kunming in J anuary reached 5.2m/s,and the average wind speed was 1.8m/s.The wind speed exceeding 2.5 m/s in thestudy area accounted for 20% of the entire test period,while the occupancy of more than 4.2 m/s accounted for 3%.It indicated that although the wind environment in the study area has been basically comfortable,ventilation corridors and areas between buildings were not suitable for residents to stay for a long time.In the three kinds of underlying surfaces of green land and pervious surface and impervious surface,the temperature difference between day and night in green space was only 14°C.The warming rate of pervious surface is faster and its temperature difference between day and night is the largest,reached to25.9°C.The humidity difference in the residential area reached a maximum of 51%,mainly due to solar radiation and wind direction.In addition,the water body has less influence on the humidity of the air,and the larger or concentrated green areas compared with the fragmented scattered green land was better in environmental optimization.The numerical simulation shows that the average wind speed in the entire residential area was 3.11m/s.The wind speeds at multiple locations were too large,and the wind environment in the enclosed building ar ea is relatively comfortable.
