Slices model for slope stability analysis,such as Sweden's simplified method,Bishop's simplified method,etc,are still be the mainstream methods of slope analysis and evaluation.However,due to the rigid body assumption,how to simplify and calculate the forces between rigid slices is the most critical problem for slices model,and also is the main and direct influence on the calculation result difference.As it is known,a rigid slice will not reach a equilibrium state solution without any simplified condition.A reasonable simplified condition will lead to a solving approach of difference method,and also causes the difference of the result of th methods.However,even a simplified condition must be given,slices methods are still important means of the analysis of slope stability at present.Considering the fact above,this paper attempts to present a more reasonable approach to calculate the force between slices.It established slices analysis method of spring model which based on the theory of cellular automata.We named slice cellular automata method.The forces between slices will not be simplified by adopting the cellular automata method,and it will be obtained by an iterative solution.Every slice iterates to balance,then break the balance,over and over again,till to achieve stability.This study compiled software,which named CASlope.The software allows users to construct different model of slope.The procedure is simple and easy to use.It displays the results at a glance and in details.during the iterative process,every stiffness matrix only needs once calculation,the whole iteration pass one by one through the update rules between cells and their neighbors to reach balanced state.The advantage of this approach is very low memory requirements and few assumptions,which is advantageous to proceed elaborate simulation for slices analysis method under the condition of the numerical simulation.Example results show that this approach is feasible and the results are reasonable.
