| Hermetia illucens is an important insect resource,because larvae can efficiently convert organic waste and the larvae and prepupae have high content of protein and lipid.The issue of promoting adult reproduction has not been solved in production practice,limited the industrialization development of H.illucens.Therefore,we studied(1)effects of artificial light on adults reproduction,(2)reflectance spectra of body parts of male and female adults,(3)effects of different body parts on reproduction,(4)the opsin genes identification.These results will help reveal the role of the visual system in the reproduction,and lay the foundation for the research and development of artificial light for H.illucens.The main results are as follows: 1.Effect of different lights on the reproduction of H.illucensUnder six different wavelengths(375 nm,420 nm,465 nm,505 nm,600 nm,645 nm)light,the fecundity of H.illucens were different,and the highest hatching rate in all treatment groups was only 11%.2.Reflection spectrum of the body parts of the male and female adultThe dorsal of male thorax,the ventral of female abdomen-front and abdomen-middle,the relative reflectance of the opposite sex corresponding location with a large gaps;coating the body parts of the male and female adult,the results of female oviposition rate and hatching rate were different among different treatment groups,and the biggest impact is coated the ventral of female abdomen.After coating the H.illucens compound eyes,the treatment group female oviposition rate and hatching rate were significantly lower than the control group,and the biggest impact is coated male compound eyes.3.Effect of a new light on reproduction of H.illucensThe invented new light source can promote mating and oviposition for H.illucens,female oviposition rate can reach 80%,the highest of hatching rate is up to 96.31% in indoor experiment.4.Identification opsin genes from H.illucensSeven opsin genes were identified from H.illucens transcriptome database,4 of them for the long wavelength opsin,1 for blue opsin,2 for UV opsin.Three opsin genes were used for the RNAi experiment,but the effect of interference is very low.This paper defined the reflectance spectra of H.illucens male and female adults of all parts of the body,combining the effects of different light sources on Hermetia illucens reproduction,a new light source which can promote the mating activities were invented.The research results have important significance mass production of Hermetia illucens. |
