The Research On The Evaluation Of Total Factor Productivity And Economic Growth In Shaanxi Province

With the development of economics,the research of productivity has become an important area that economists have been studying.After Solow put forward the concept of total factor productivity(TFP)in 1957,the study of TFP has gradually become one of the popular topic in the field of economic growth.Based on the review of TFP and literature review,the paper uses the DEA-Malmquist index method to estimate the TFP of urban areas in Shaanxi Province from 2000 to 2016,and divides TFP into technical efficiency change and technical progress index.we divide Shaanxi province into three major regions and studies the differences of TFP among different regions.Based on the Granger causality test,the relationship between TFP and economic growth rate is verified.Finally,the quantitative relationship between TFP and economic growth rate was obtained.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)In this paper,we use DEA-Malmquist index to estimate the change and composition of TFP in Shaanxi province.We found that the index of technical progress is the main factor of TFP growth in Shaanxi province,while the technical efficiency is to a certain extent hinder the growth of TFP.(2)By analyzing the change of TFP in the three major regions of Shaanxi province,the TFP in Guanzhong is the highest,followed by the north and the south is the lowest;(3)The highest TFP in Guanzhong is Yangling Demonstration Zone.Hanzhong is the largest in southern Shaanxi Province,while the levels of TFP in Yulin and Yan'an are basically the same.(4)Firstly,using the unit root test of ADF,it shows that both the economic growth rate and the TFP are steady,and then the Granger causality test between the two is made.The results show that when the lagging order is 1-4,The TFP and economic growth rate are Granger reasons.That is,the change of TFP will affect the change of economic growth rate,and vice versa.Finally,regression of TFP and economic growth rate shows that when the TFP changes by 1 unit,the change of economic growth is 0.6638 units.By measuring the change of TFP,we will correctly evaluate the economic development situation in Shaanxi Province,and aim at improving the TFP of each region in accordance with the different conditions in different urban areas,which will make the coordinated development of all regions in Shaanxi Province.It's very important practical significance for Shaanxi Province.
