This study explored the effect of soil conditioner on soil physical and chemical properties and cassava yield,and provided a theoretical basis for the application of soil conditioner in cassava production in GuangXi.With the variety of cassava Xinxuan048 as the materials,respectively(CK)Okg/hm2,(A)500kg/hm2,(B)1000kg/hm2,(C)1500kg/hm2 as the four treatments.Data collection was conducted in the seedling stage of cassava,root formation stage,root expansion stage and process maturity phase.The soil physical and chemical characters,cassava agronomic characters,root yield characters,physiological indexes and yield were compared and studied.The results showed that:(1)Application of soil conditioner can reduce soil solid and soil bulk density,optimize soil tilling structure,improve soil porosity and moisture content.Soil pH has increased,soil acidity has decreased,the content of organic matter,nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium in soil fertility increased,and the content of exchangeable calcium and magnesium in soil increased.(2)The growth rate of cassava plant with soil conditioner was faster,plant height,stem diameter and leaf area index were significantly better than CK control group at the beginning of seedling stage,and it can stay in the later stages.It has increased the value of the chlorophyll SPAD,guaranteed the cassava photosynthesis and the supply of root nutrients.(3)The application of soil conditioner reduced the soluble sugar,sucrose and reducing sugar content of cassava root,and promoted the synthesis and accumulation of starch.At the same time,it can optimize the yield and characters of cassava root,increase the quantity,length and diameter of root,and increase the yield of single plant by 26.36%.(4)There was a significant difference in cassava yield with different dosage of soil conditioner,treatment group(1500kg/hm2)had the most significant effect.The total yield of cassava root and starch per hectare increased by 30.57%and 40.64%,and the content of root starch increased by 4.40%.
